Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: DNA % help please
« on: Wednesday 05 January 22 21:20 GMT (UK)  »
My mother was born in Wales, but her grandmother was from Southern England. Her Husband may have been Welsh .My grandfather was (i thought) Danish but Norwegian is not impossible.
So I may be 15% Welsh from my mothers side.
Which would make me 50% Welsh from my fathers side.
So 90+% Welsh father
Defiantly Land of my Fathers :) :) :)

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA % help please
« on: Wednesday 05 January 22 13:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I did a Ancestry DNA test and the best I have is 1 13% (906cM)..
As I have a lot of unknown for names I am more interested in heritage.
I am 65% Welsh, 23%Southern England and the rest Norway , Germany and Russia
My mother is 50% Danish (?) and probably 50% South England Counties
My father is a complete unknown.
Could a mathematician make an educated guess as to my fathers heritage please.
Many thanks for your time
Queen Willow

The Lighter Side / Re: Skeletons in the closet anyone?

It seems that both sides of my family were allergic to marriage!
On my Mothers side, her parents decided to get married when she was 15 and they had had all their children
On my fathers side his mother was unmarried as well
My stepfathers mother didn't get married until he was 7!
At least I got married before I had children (though not with the man I married !)

Did Temple School have 'houses'? The modern incarnation does and I wonder if the 'Blue' refers to the House your Grand Uncle was in.

Christmas was a fairly popular name in Wales during the 1800's.
The most well know one was Christmas Evans, who was regarded as one of the greatest preachers in Welsh history. He even has a mention in the Encyclopedia Britannica (11th edition)
