Thank You both,

For your input.

That is so obviously, my great grandfather's death and burial,in 1891.
.I was not aware that there was any Catholic information, in Middlesborough, available on find my past. Thanks to you, I have also found Catherine's death and burial in 1916,again at St Joseph's,with the name Gould. Also came up with their daughter, Johanna's baptism and burial. Again Gould, although she was registered as McCouliff in 1862....

All the other children, with mothers maiden name Stack, are mine.

I think the baptism you found for Maurice in 1831 is the correct one. According to their marriage certificate his father was Jeremiah.

I would be interested to know which site you found the details of his drunkeness.

It is a long time since I did my research into this side of the family, that I had put it on the back burner, so to speak. Thanks to you two, I have gone back to them

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Can anyone explain why !!
« on: Friday 19 June 20 15:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My Great Great Grandparents were Maurice and Catherine McAuliffe, from Cork. They married in Middlesbough in 1861.

I have managed to find the births deaths and marriages of all  their children, under various spellings of that name, not a easy task ! it took me years.

It took me many years also,to find them on any census, apart from 1861,before they married.....When I DID find them, they were  using the name Gould.

1871 att 10 Mineral Street. Middlesborough
1881 at 69, Hymer Street, Ormesby . Maurice transcribed as Horace
1891 Maurice was in hospital, as  Gould, but died very shortly afterwards, as McAuliffe

Can anyone come up with a reason for the name change, it has baffled me for years.

Many thanks

Hello There,

Could you please tell me where these can be accessed please ? Over the phone, or by email....

I know that the gentleman I am researching, lived at  the same address for 32 years. He died last week in the Nursing Home that my daughter owns. He has no relatives, that we can find. We are trying to find the name of his wife, so that we can put some sort of eulogy together, and hopefully reunite them, if we can find out who she was.

I have found out who his parents were. His father died in 1985.

Thank You.

Thank you, Every One.

This gentleman died in the last 10 day's, with no living relatives, in a Residential Home.
We were hoping to come up with something to say about his life,at his funeral ie his parents, where he was born. However the date of birth he gave, and his name,do not tally with where he is said to be born.

Hi Guys..

Simple question. Can a NHS number tell you where it was issued?

I know that  they were not issued until 1948,and the gentleman I am researching was born in 1940, but i cannot be sure where he was born.

I am grasping at straws !!

Thank you again !!

The link you sent me of the gravestone of Annie Culkin , wife of Thomas, mentions the name of Pat and Ellen Gaughan of Keighley. It is their great, great, grandson I am doing this for. A very, very special baby. His parents will be thrilled, especially his dad.

Brilliant

Thank you

I totally agree with you. I do have a very extensive tree, and it is public. People have added my tree to theirs, regardless. However, I have been contacted by quite a few people, who have turned out to be descendants of my great grandparents, and I have gleaned a lot from them, so it has worked really well for me. I have worked so hard at my research, in the early days I could not have even got of the ground without Rootschat. My parents divorced when I was 3 years old,and I never knew any grandparents, so I am very proud of what I have achieved. If I am not certain though,it do's not get added to my tree.

I am still working on everyone's input, for which I am very grateful. I THINK I have made a break through......

Many Thanks

WOW

What can I say. As Always Rootschat comes up trumps.

I am afraid you have all given me so much info etc. I cannot take it all in, so I am going to print it all off to study.

Here is what I am sure off.....

The 1901 and 1911 census' are correct for the Culkin family. I have traced them from their daughter Ellen, born 13/12/1896 and this is the date of birth she gave in Yorkshire on the 1939 Register (I am doing this for a Christmas gift, for her great great grandson, born in May )

I have Michael Culkin and Eliza Strogen's marriage 20/02/1878 from the rootsireland website It took place in the Parish of Attymass, Mayo.

Hallmark...

You ask where I got the surname Dunbar, for Anna, and I have to admit, it came from a family tree, built on A*******. I Always check this kind of information. After doing this for 4 days I realised that someone was very wrong in their research....and I did not know where to start again, my head was in a whirl.
Now ,thanks to everyone, I can get it together again

Many Many Thanks everyone.I will now look properly at your replies, and start again......

It is getting so close to Christmas now,and I do want to get this tree finished and printed.

Mayo / Strudgeon/ Strogen marriage to Ann Dunbar

Hi There

I have to admit total defeat !!

I have the marriage of Eliza STRUGEON to Michael Culkin on 20th January 1878, but I cannot find any marriage for her parents, Robert Strudgeon (he died 5th December 1881 age 46 ) and Ann Dunbar, born c1841, I Have tried every variation of names I can think of.

It would also be nice if I can find their births too. To get back one generation would be super.....

In 1901 Anne was living with the Culkins, and also in 1911 at Carrower, Sallymount, Mayo.

Many Thanks
