Hi Sue - Many thanks for all the info, am a little "shattered" as we were up discussing things until 1am this morning, meanwhile my printer and scanner decided to have a heart attack so have had to order another which should be here (hopefully) this week-end.  The whole thing is rather confusing and Nev has left all paperwork with me so as from tomorrow will be spending most of the time going through them, his father lied about his age at the start of the war and I have to go through his war service as dates and where he was taken prisoner seem to vary as does his medical records as his lag was amputated ar some point once again variants in time and place....so will leave or the time being and get back to you when I have a few more things sorted....thank you so much....all the best...Pat...

The Common Room / Orphanage/Boarding School puzzle
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 01:00 GMT (UK)  »
Have been meaning to try and work out this puzzle for quite some time and hope someone can help..My mother and her three sisters were placed in an orphanage/boarding school for some reason and I have no idea where or why....so the story is...Heather Agnes McKay 1908-1979, Jean Stewart McKay 1912-1988, Isabella McKay 1913-1938, Annie McKay (my mother) 1915-2002.  Parents Alexander McKay 1876 born Doune Kilmadock died 01 April France and Flanders. Charlotte Hall Born Alva Clackmannanshire 1888 Died 1948 London (she had married again in 1915 in Windsor U.K. I have no idea why my Grandmother never took the children with her ?? my mother could recall them being sent to Windsor as they reached the age of 15 my mother being the last she remembered a train journey from Scotland to Windsor and being sick on the train.  The only other info I have is the name "Craigie" or similar.  I have checked out all orphanages in Scotland etc with no results...can anyone help, this has been a puzzle for quite a number of years and now of course with all of them having died I have no idea..maybe someone could put me on another track..TIA.

Nope - my tree has not been shared..and is supposed to be private on Ancestry...the other thing being, I am in Australia and all the people concerned (been named) are also Australian's... just cannot figure it out and as I said most of the info has been incorrect...figure the only thing I can do is delete, but still cannot figure how this information has been copied onto two separate trees ???
