Hello Paganalice

How lovely to hear from you.  I have all the ones you mention on my tree and more.  John William Watling I have but no wife or Watling brother to your Richard Merryfield Watling.children so you're not on my tree.  I am connected via John Watling brother to your Richard Merryfield Watling.  I have all the connections to my family plus others and I have a mystery query which I'm hoping you might know something about.  My dad was born in Romford and I live here in Romford.  So the whole family is close to my heart.   Please let me know if therze is anything you'd like to know or give me the details from your grandf\ather down so I can add you to my tree.  I am in contact with 3 people who match DNA on Ancestry with me  but two of them have no idea how.

Looking forward to hearing back from you

Diana

Other Countries / Italian records
« on: Friday 02 June 23 14:18 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any records or information on my Italian grandparents Angela D'Ambrosio b.1894 and Sebastiano de Luca.  They lived in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, Naples.  I think the parents of Sebastiano were Vincenzo de Luca and Antonietta Busiello.

I  have had my dna done and match lots of people but all are in the US.  Because they are distant cousins we cant find connections although Ancestry is saying surnames closest to me are Bandiera, Caruso, DeGenova and DiNardo.  Areas being quoted are Naples, Averra and Avellino.

I woukd be so grateful for any help.  thank you

Have you checked that Edith Brien born 1865 wasn't born before her parents were married, so her birth might be registered as Griffiths and not Brien.

Have you got the marriage cert for Edith for her marriage to George Wheatley, that might give her father's name.

i've checked Edith Griffiths - couldn't find anything.  Jane might have been married before.

I will have to see if we have the marriage cert fir Edith and Wheatley but i think it said Frank Brien

London and Middlesex / Francis W Brien

I know you all like a mystery so here's another one for you.  In the 1901 census we have

Francis W Brien b.1840 Newington dock labourer living in Bale Street
Jane Brien  wife  b.1844 Bethnal Green
George Brien b.1886 son
Francis G Wheatley grandson b.1889
Edith McDonald b.1892 Granddaughter Stepney

In 1911 census
Edith M Donald niece age 19 b.1892 living at 32 Bale Street with
John Henry Brien b.1873 Ely Terrace Mile End
Emma Brien wife b.1879
Sidney Winston Brien b.1909 son Ession St Stepney
Mrs Jane Brien widow 1844 Bethnal Green mother

So Francis Brien married Jane Griffiths Whitechapel 1865 but in all the censuses from 1871 to 1891 Edith brien, who we think was born 1865 in Bethnal Green, isn't mentioned. Her birth details/ certificate can't be found.  Can anyone find her connection to Francis W Brien snr?
Edith Brien married George Wheatley 1885
Edith Wheatley married John McDonald in Mile End 1891

many thanks

Thank you all so much for your kind help.  I've had a quick look and names are popping out at me specifically Romford as all the family ended up there including my dad.  Also the Hunt marriage.  I have an actual wedding certificate which was in the family's possessions but no one knows why they had it.  Also I've seen the name Surridge before somewhere maybe in my DNA matches.  I will read through everything next week to see if I can find connections.  Thank you all again.  Diana
