Northamptonshire / Edith Ida Mary Brown, Northampton
« on: Tuesday 28 September 10 11:36 BST (UK)  »
Just hoping someone may be able to shed some light on my problem.

Bertie vernon Slade b1895, d1965
Edith Ida Mary Brown b1896,  m1923, d1980
Vernon John Slade, son  b1924,m1949, d1995

Before marriage Edith was living in Holly road, Northampton.
After marriage she was living in Milton street, Northampton.

I understand that a Brown family was still living in Holly Road up to the late 1940's.

Edith vanished off the radar in about 1925.

It's a real long shot, i know, but there may just be someone still around
who can fill in the missing years.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Lancashire / Re: A little advise pls
« on: Sunday 12 September 10 20:34 BST (UK)  »
Many thanks to everyone for your help.

James only had children by his 3rd wife,Helen.
Jane, dob unknown.
Thomas, b17.11.1806
The family did settle Westleigh and lived there for many years.

So now there are 4 records that slot into place,

Marriage: 10 Sep 1787
James Patrick - Betty Walker

Marriage: 10 Sep 1800
James Patrick - Jane Gillibrand

Baptisms: 20 Mar 1805
Jane Patrick - Daughter of James Patrick & Jane

Baptisms: 19 Nov 1806
Thomas Patrick - Son of James Patrick & Jane

Maybe as i said , it's just a coincidence, as i can't believe so many misstakes were made.

Thanks again
Grahame

Lancashire / A little advise pls
« on: Saturday 11 September 10 21:50 BST (UK)  »
I would like a little advise please from the old hands at this game.

This is the info i have from family papers;

James Kirkpatrick 1760-1838
Betsy Walker, 1st wife, no issue
Jane Gillibrand, 2nd wife, no issue
Helen Urquhart, 3rd wife
Thomas son, b1806
As a young man, james moved to Radcliffe.

The only record i can find for James is his death in 1838, there is
just nothing either side of the border.

Now the big question, is it possible that when recoring his marriage's,  the kirk bit was thought to be a middle name and left out?.

I ask this because i found the 2 entries below, it may well be just one heck of a big coincidence.

Marriage: 10 Sep 1787
James Patrick - of this Parish
Betty Walker - of Parish of Rattcliffe  <-typo, should be Radcliffe

Marriage: 10 Sep 1800
James Patrick - Widower of Radcliffe Parish
Jane Gillibrand - Spinster of Leigh Parish

This has been my brickwall for years, so now i'm clutching at straws.

Many thanks
grahame

Dumfriesshire / James Kirkpatrick, Dumfries 1760
« on: Tuesday 15 December 09 15:02 GMT (UK)  »
This is a long shot, but someone may have this chap in their tree.

Known facts;
james kirkpatrick
born 1760, place unknown
Died 1838 Leigh Lancashire
Thomas, son born 1806 Leigh Lancashire

Family rumour;
James is said to come from an area between Dumfries & auckenleck
Trade, Bookbinder
First wife could be, Helen Urquhart
Second wife could be, Jane Gillibrand born 1768

About 2 years of banging my head  on a brick wall, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
