Durham Lookup Requests / Ford Family south shields

I am looking for any information on William Ford b 1799 in south shields .He was a master mariner , never mentioned once in the census so possibly went on long voyages. In 1861 his wife Margaret said she was a sea captains wife. Where is the best place to get any information about him.

Hello I have just found your message. I have  just been searching for my grandfather in 1911 and lily was with the foggans ,my grandfathers aunt and uncle. in the  1901 census she was listed as their adopted daughter.
I did know her , but she was married to david charles and lived in the north east . this does not fit in with your info.
