Canada / "Evans" in St Johns Newfoundland
« on: Friday 28 November 08 03:09 GMT (UK)  »
William King Evans born St Johns Newfoundland 5 Sept 1899. His father was , Theophillus and mother was Celia King. They lived on Pope and Tesser Place in St Johns. William had several brothers and sisters, 13 in all which 4 or five brothers were killed in WW1
William Evans was in the army and I think he went to Nova Scotia and joined a Highland Regiment. After the war he went to Calgary in 1919, married Gertrude Alice Frazee on 23 July 1923. In the depression they relocated to Port Alberni. William died 9 Nov.1968
Would like any info on the Evans of St Johns Newfoundland

Derry (Londonderry) / Cairns

William Cairns left Derry in 1823 for Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He and his daughter Elizabeth and son James and his mother nigh 100 years. bought a plot of land on the Chateauguay River in Jamestown what is known as Ormstown, Quebec. I have found links in Quebec. Our family plot is at the Union Cemetery, Ormstown. I have found no contact from Limavaldy where James was born in 1818 and Elizabeth in 1802.

It is so nice to see Limavady on line, my ggg-grandfather William Cairns came to Montreal Quebec,  then on to Ormstown(Jamestown) Quebec on the Chateauguay River in 1823, his son James born 1818 in Limavady. My daughter was visiting Ireland and stoped into the town and said it was a beautiful area.  I will be back to read more. Thank you
Ron Cairns.*
