Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / Re: Phillip Thomas Burial
« on: Wednesday 16 February 11 09:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Morgan
Came across your query and by chance have been recently in touch with an ancestor of Philip Thomas and Anne Owens on GenesReunited.
Daughter Annie J Thomas b 1888 d 1965 and married Granvill Morris b 1890, d 1968.
Cannot give you later details of living relatives but could give you contact details of source off chatroom..
Anne Owens b 1865 was daughter of Daniel Owens b 1838, Blacksmith and Mary Pryce b 1833 Llanedy and daughter of Richard Pryce 1801-1859 and Hannah Rogers 1804-1870 both of Llanedy and in 1841 was living at the 'Royal Oak Inn'.
The Pryce family were a prominent family of Llanedy, living at Erw Wastod and Plas Newydd with ancestors marrying into the Vaughan's of Place Gwynn, Penry's and Seys of Boverton, Glam.
My wife is a descendant of the Pryce family through Richard Seys Pryce 1769-1855, Excise Officer who died at Pontardulais.
Regards
Michael

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Re: LAMB family- Corton Denham
« on: Saturday 05 July 08 17:49 BST (UK)  »
Hello Stewart

My wife is also related to the LAMB family of Corton Denham, through Jane LAMB chr. 22 May 1795, daughter of Samuel LAMB and Mary HANHAM who were married 1776 at Sandford Orcas. Jane married 13 Jan 1816 at Corton Denham to John BEACH b1795-d1851.

We have had help from Roy Snaydon and Gordon Osmond and have just received from David Lamb in Canada via "Horethorne Hundred" group of the Yahoo forum "Somersetfamilyhistory" a list of his LAMB relatives who emigrated from Corton Denham in the early 1840's.

We would be interested also in your CHIDZEY family as we have a Haryet BEACH married 29 Aug 1822 to John CHIDSY and also the LAMB and BEACH families.

Ref your need for Excel , try "www. openoffice.org" where you can download for free the program to open .xls documents, we use it successfully.

Regards
Michael and Penny

"I'm related to the Lamb family from Corton Denham and have been doing a fair bit of research into the family and the village.  I have traced my family from the 1500s up to the mid 1800s living in Corton Denham.

My g/g/g/g/grandmother was Jane Lamb born in 1802, her parents were James Lamb and Mary Longman.  Jane married Levi Chidzey in 1832.

I have a spreadsheet containing a huge amount of information on the families of Corton Denham over 500 years but I can only access it on my work computer at the moment (I don't have Excel)!!  I will look at it tomorrow and see what I can find.

Can you tell me what other family names/info you have.

Regards

Stewart"

Hello Watermusic.

Have discovered only yesterday your discussions regarding FRY of Wambrook, SOM/DOR, I am descended from a John FRY b c1797 Pilton, Som. married to Jane MAIDMENT c 1820s, W Pennard, and son Daniel FRY b 1828 Pilton.

1851 living Clapton, Midsomer Norton, Som. Farmer 60 acres, 3 employees, also living with them is Mary FRY, Sister, b 1785 Wombrook, Som. From this I have reckoned John is a son of Daniel and Mary FRY, from Wambrook., your info. ref. removal order seems to tie this up.
1861 John and Jane FRY, retired Farmer at Clapton, MSN, Som.
John died 8th Mar 1873 and Jane died 22 Dec 1879

Daniel FRY b 1828 married Amelia STICKLAND b 1832 E Pennard, Som at Clutton Reg. Dist.in 1851. Amelia is daughter of William and Mary STICKLAND from Parbrook, E Pennard, he a Butcher/ Baker and was living there in 1841/1851 and died 1874.

Have not extended the other children into the 1900s.

Regarding FRY’s at Wambrook,  I have Daniel FRY b 1757 Wambrook, removed to Pilton, son of  Henry FRY and Ann SEWARD, and the following children.
John FRY b c1760 Wambrook, Elizabeth FRY b 1762 Wambrook, married to Samuel TETT at Wambrook on 21 Apr 1788, Sarah FRY chr 17 Feb 1765 Wambrook, married to David DENNING, on 19 Sep 1791 Wambrook, Ann FRY chr  25 Jun 1765 Wambrook, Mary FRY chr 28 Jun 1767 Wambrook, Amy FRY chr 25 Jun 1769 Wambrook and William FRY CHR 30 Jun 1771 Wambrook.
