Definitely not 1860s by any stretch of the imagination, sorry  :-\  Not an 1860s dress - way too elaborate and not wide enough (in the 1860s they were all wearing hoops or crinolines, with usually quite simple designs.

Prue

I didn't think it was.  Family information says that we have a photo (somewhere) of an Aunt who was born in 1806.  That was the only photo with an old enough costume to come even close.   Most of the others are from the 80's and 90's.

Thank you all

Thank you all.

I needed the photo to be from the mid 1860's for it to be who I thought it was.  Oh well, looks like I need to do some more thinking.

Thank you all.

Australia / Re: Looking for someone leaving Australia 1918 - 1928

Thank you for that Tissy,

I have a Felix Schroder (name can be spelt with an e or without) entering the US on April 30, 1923 but he entered from Lauenburg, Germany and not from Australia.  It could be him from the aspect of the age fitting and from other details gotten from a family member that he may have fled Australia and returned to Germany.

To get to Australia he jumped ship in Adelaide and fled to NSW in around 1909 he was working as an engineer on the ship.

United States of America / Re: Where do I look for Emigrant record to the United States?

He was born in Germany/Prussia in 1889.

He sent a number of letters to his oldest son in Australia postmarked from Knowville Tenn.

Thank you both,

From what I have just found out he died in Knoxville Knox Tennessee,  I think it was in 1958 (I am not positive of that).

My mother remembers her father getting a letter from his Lawyer asking if he was going to make a claim on the estate.  Apparently he declined.

He travelled by himself and left a wife and 3 young children behind in Australia.  (If he left before 1919 - when his wife filed for divorce).

Hello,

I am trying to find out where my great grandfather went.

All I know is that he left Australia and moved to the United States sometime between 1918-1928.

Where would I have to go to search for any details?

His name was Felix Arthur George Schroeder.

Thank you
