Hi Jenny, sorry I've been so long replying, was on holiday when your mail came in and it got lost down at the bottom of the in box. Nick Gibb told me about some of his uncles who went to North America but don't think he mentioned Mary so when I saw the original entry on "curiousfox" I had to investigate. If you want to discuss/compare my (wifes) Gibb family tree contact us direct on (*) AlecF

Hi Lu, hope you are well. If you remember you were hoping to find some more info re Mary Gibb, I'm not sure if you sent something which went missing or maybe I deleted by mistake. If you have been just too busy then no problem, I just wondered if I missed your reply.  :)

That's ok Lu, there is no hurry, we may not find that person who was looking for the connection as a few years have slipped by, but it would be good to discover some more about Marys journey. Its also rekindled my interest in our past generations, we know that Mary had brothers/sisters who went to Alberta in Canada and my wife also has Tolmie second/third cousins in NZ but like I mentioned earlier I'm planning on delving into them next year when retirement arrives.

Thanks again for your endeavours and although I'm not yet experienced in genealogy if there is anything I can help you with in the NE of Scotland just ask.

Aahh Lu you must be such a busy girl, had a look at some of the other lines of enquiries you are helping people with.

Your info so far is maybe explaining why a 23 year old from a large rural Scottish family decides to go to the opposite side of the world, do you think that she was following a love interest that for one reason or another didn't work out ? so sad if this was the attraction to NZ (or Aotearoa as I've learned) and apparently passing so young. Its these circumstances (or is it what we want to imagine) that makes finding out about the past so intoxicating.

Can't wait for the next instalment !  :)  Alec F

Hi Lu,
Thanks for your speedy interest in my post. I have dipped in and out of genealogy over the years when I have had spare time and I should have lots of that from next year. Yes I happened on the Curiousfox entry recently and there is an email attempt going on just now but no immediate response so I thought I'd try another angle. Mary Gibb would have been a sister of my wife's GF John, so not too far back. Appreciate any info you may find.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Mary Gibb from Aberdeenshire to New Zealand in 1908

Hi, Looking for the person (or relative or friend) who asked for Scottish connections to Alexander Gibb and Isabella Noble in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, through a Mary Gibb who came to New Zealand in 1908, daughter of above. The original post was on another website several years ago so the contact/email which I replied to may no longer be relative or indeed the poster may no longer be active, any help to solve the query would be appreciated.

Hi Friends, I came across someone in New Zealand who was connected with Mary Gibb originally from Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Mary Gibbs' parents were Alexander Gibb and Isabella Noble. This was on another website and originally posted more than five years ago, does this ring any bells with anyone in New Zealand ??
