Hi Gerald,
I will gather as much info as I can and send you a private message on here.
I have a copy of a photo of John Price which I tried to send you via private message but I couldn't seem to attach and send it on here, I am not that brilliant with technology so will try again tomorrow. It may even be Friday as I need to gather as much information as I can to send you and check through old e mails that I have received over the years from various descendants of John.
Seems like we are from a very musically gifted family!  John Price's Brother  was a composer Thomas Maldwyn Price, then Thomas' s Son Richard Maldwyn Price followed in his footsteps and there is a memorial to him in Welshpool church where he played the organ. They are both mentioned in Welsh Biography Online if you look it up.
Will be in touch very soon

By the way we did try to find Trout Cottage without much luck but we didn't have much time. There is a cottage there called Trout but it looked too modern. Maybe the original was pulled down and they built a new one and kept the name?

Hi,
Been away and just seen your post. So glad you posted on here, I was aware of James but like you could not find a trace of him anywhere. So many blacksmiths in the Price/Pryce family!
I am the Great Granddaughter of John Price. His Daughter Catherine was my Grandmother, she talked so fondly about John which set off my interest in him.
He had a few more Children with Mary Evans (My Great Grandmother) I have found twelve so far.
I know quite a lot about him and his family now if you need any more information. There are still a few blanks left to fill, I have spent many many hours researching him and have gathered quite a bit of info.
Haven't been on this site for ages but luckily I received a personal e mail to tell me you had posted on a thread I started.

Travelling People / Re: Fairground Motorcycle Wall of Death

J.W.T nice to meet you, been hoping to find a relative on here for a while! I am the Granddaughter of Kate Price, the second born of John and Mary Price's 12 children. John Price/Pryce had 6 children from a previous marriage too, and my Mum always believed there were more Children but I have not traced them yet.
My Brothers and I have been fascinated by the thought of Williams's Wall of Death riding and have wanted to find out more about him for a long time. I had traced that he had Children and was hoping there would be Grandchildren who may be researching him. I have spent hours and hours on the Price tree and believe it as complete as it can be for now. Keep in  touch, and if I find out anything else I will let you know.

Gilly J what a great description of the Wall of Death and the visit to the fair, felt like I was there! I was born and brought up on Pen Llyn so wasn't  too far away from Aglesey. Apparently the Wall of Death has returned in a big way recently, my Son goes to a lot of festivals and he went to watch the riders last Summer at one he was at, sure its much safer these days though!

Anglesey / Re: Churches and graveyards Beaumaris

Hi Alf,
I think our ancestors might have known each other, mine was sometimes described as a Tide Waiter and at other times a Custom's Officer, are they the same thing I wonder?
I had two ancestors who were described as above in the Beaumaris census of 1841 1851 1861 and 1871 the one was Thomas Staples who was born London 1785  and in the later census it was his Son William Staples. I also have been trying to track either of them down on various Customs and Excise sites with no luck whatsoever, it's really strange. The next generation of Staples headed to Liverpool looking for work as many seemed to during the late 1800's

Cae Howell, I am a regular visitor on the Penmon site and have a history of the Staples family there now, which is great.

Thanks for the suggestion re Bangor Uni Gilly J I might try that next.

Anglesey / Churches and graveyards Beaumaris

Hi, don't know if anyone can help. I recently sent away for burial inscriptions for the Church in Beaumaris from the Gwynedd Family History Society. When it arrived I searched for our family graves but there was no mention of them. I know that some of my family are buried in Beaumaris cemetery as I have seen them with my own eyes! (The graves that is not the ancestors!!!)The cemetery where I saw them is above the town looking down on the Menai Straits, thinking about it now it didn't have a church as such on the grounds. Is this not the church yard connected to the church that is the town?
If it has nothing to do with the other church that is just off the town centre, does anyone know where I might get the records for the graveyard above the town?
Also does anyone out there know if there is anywhere that you can find the details of Customs Officers, or Harbour Masters, as two generations of my ancestors where Customs Officers in Beaumaris, but other than saying this on the Beaumaris census I can't find anymore details about them.
Thank you for reading this, and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh my Goodness, after all this time someone who knows, and is part of the family!!!!
Yes indeed I am Thomas's daughter and my Nain was Kate who married Pryce Lewis.
I have only just found this message as I was just checking my spam mail and it had gone into that folder for some unknown reason.
I had tracked down that John Price was buried in Bethel, and have a photo of his grave, and that the Mary he married was from Llanwddyn, maybe they met when he was helping to build the Vyrnwy as Nain always said he did.
I knew he had a lot of children with Mary, I was very close to Emlyn and Joe, but didn't meet many of the others, but have now built a relationship with Megan who was Nain's Brother Edward's daughter, so she would have been my Dad's first cousin. We met through ancestry and have been in touch since, trying to fathom the large family out!
It would be wonderful to chat some more, and thank you so much for your reply.

Ah, that makes sense! His Father was a railway Blacksmith. I never realised that there was a railway running that way, never thought of that. Wish they would build one round here! Tried to find a way of getting from Machynlleth to Meifod today to do a bit of family grave spotting, was absolutely impossible to get from here to there, would be easier to get to Liverpool from here than to a place up the road! Will have to get myself a car.
Thanks for your help
Regards
Rosie
