Allen9315,
As ex Signals myself,  I go on to a  site which I feel should be of some help to you.  Simply google for "Royal Corps of Signals" and then scroll down  to "Royal Signals - Index".  Click on to that site and then select "comcen" and post your enquiry there.
I feel sure that you will get the help you need.

What a lovely site thi is!!
As I now approach my 82nd. year,  I remember with great affection a school teacher at my primary school,  St. Wilfrid's,  Hulme,  Manchester,  from which I passed my eleven plus. The teacher was William Flatley and he was the English master.  He was,  in my opinion,  the best teacher I ever met and I feel that my love of writing and language was instilled in me by that gentle man.  He may well not be a member of your family,  but the name itself brings back really nice memories!!

I do hope that my old RC pals can help me here!   My wife's last surviving brother has died in Perth, Western Australia and we are today looking at a very old cutting from the Manchester Evening News
(undated don't y'know!) which has a photograph which includes her brother (complete with Busby etc.!)  We know,  of course that the reason for the visit to Manchester was part of the tercentenary
celebrations of this famous regiment.  I understand that this would have been in 1956.
Yesterday we travelled down to Manchester and into the Central Library and spent  couple of hours
trawling through the micro film records of the newspaper for the period April 1956 up to December 1956.  This time period was according to my wife's best recollection,  for in that time she attended
the celebration ball at the Manchester Town Hall in Albert Square as one of the guests.
Unfortunately to no avail!
Any ex Grenadiers out there,  can you please help.  What year was it - what month was it.
If I can locate the newspaper I should be able to get a "proper" copy of this now so important
photograph.
I know that her brother served in the Grenadiers from 1954 to 1957 (as a short term regular),  prior to emigrating to Perth in 1960.

Technical Help / Re: Microsoft Account - problems (completed)
« on: Tuesday 20 September 16 17:11 BST (UK)  »
Dear RootsChatters.
Once again when I am difficulties,  then RC comes to my rescue.  Looking back at  opening my Outlook.com email address and then discusssing the matter with my Son,  who lives down in Peterborough,  I became aware that it was my Son who set it up! and therefore it was his email address that was nominated as my alternative.   The being so  I then asked him to use his good offices (far more computer "savvy" than his old dad!)and he was able to complete the form and log in with a brand new "password",  and voila! I am "cooking with Gas!!!"  The replies from RC pals all seemed to latch on to the password et al and that eventually got through to my addled brain and "logic" then proved to be the answer.
As always I want to say a sincere thank you to all who responded to my enquiry and this matter is now - COMPLETED!!!!!!!           ;D

Technical Help / Re: Microsoft Account - problems
« on: Monday 19 September 16 19:34 BST (UK)  »
Dear RCs,
Many thanks for taking the trouble to respond to my problem.  Normally when accessing my "outlook.com" e mails,  I simply log on to my bookmark and this brings up my "outlook" details,  inbox,  outbox etc.
Can you please tell me how I can log in to "outlook.com" without my being presented with a form to fill in asking me to open a Microsoft account.
As I said previously I am anxious to retrieve the emails now hidden behind this request for a Microsoft account.  I would genuinely appreciate some help.

Technical Help / Microsoft Account - problems
« on: Saturday 17 September 16 18:01 BST (UK)  »
Dear Roots Chatters,
You would think that my being eighty years old would have endowed me with some basic logic. Well I did,  that is until I tried to log into my bookmark for my "outlook.com" email page.  Now normally this would immediately bring up both current and past emails etc.  No probs!.  Perfectly OK until yesterday!  I log in and am confronted with a request to fill in a form for my Microsoft Account,  my email,  my password and my security number.  I have been trying to fill this in correctly,  but it will not accept my email address,  my password or the outlook "security code"
The difficulty as far as I am concerned is that I cannot access the emails I have and that is worrying.
Can my pals on RC help me?  E.g.  can I contact a human being at Microsoft to sort this matter out
for until it is then my "filed" emails are not available to me!   Help please now required!!!!
