London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / DRUITT baptism, Clerkenwell
« on: Tuesday 27 April 10 15:19 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking details on the birth/baptism of Richard DRUITT (possibly spelled as Drewitt, etc) born 1776 in Clerkenwell. Age given on death certificate, i.e not a census guess, so should be fairly accurate, and birthplace was given consistently on censuses. This is a major brickwall for me so I have my fingers crossed. TIA.

Many thanks Valda, might have to try a different tactic then. I think we can call this one completed.

Thanks Valda. Is it worth me pursuing the banns? I've never actually looked those up, what sort of info is on there, and where would I need to look? If I did a shout -out here, is anyone likely to have access to them?

Robert Stride married Mary Oliver, 1822 St Andrew, Holborn. Does anyone have a copy of this PR to see if perchance there are any details of Robert's father? Long shot, but worth a try. TIA.

John McKenzie Duncan, married Isabella Webster.  John lived in Artemesia.

Explains a bit about Ontario births:

In case they stayed in Canada:

There is a John McKenzie Duncan, buried in Flesherton Cemetery.  Do not see an Isabella in the same cemetery.

HMM. I wonder if Isabella died very shortly after the marriage? I have him marrying a Susan Turner (also a widow) in 1888. Of course this could be wrong (this is from my friend's research).  This is the same man as on the census, of that I am sure.

Trying to find this gentleman for a friend's brickwall. We assume we are looking for an Ontario census record, but this is not certain.

I found a John M. Duncan in Artemesia Township on the 1881 Family Search Census, but need to try to confirm this is the right family, as the date of birth is given as 1865.

I know nothing about Canadian genealogy, can births be looked up too?

Midlothian / Midlothian coverage on CPR's at SCotland's People
« on: Tuesday 17 November 09 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Before I waste another kings ransom on credits at SP searching for things that don't exist, can anyone tell me if I'll be lucky with Edinburgh on the new Catholic Parish Registers, early 19th century? I can't get the PDF with the coverage listed to open on this borrowed computer.
