Northumberland / Re: Alexander Weightman/Wightman
« on: Sunday 21 May 23 12:11 BST (UK)  »
Alan thank you for your swift reply and details Not sure if this is the Mary I am after. I've been thinking Alexander and Mary would have married before the birth of their first daughter Rebekah in 1798.Perhaps they were "living in sin" before deciding to marry I will have a look at the info But as we know FH research is always throwing curve balls at us. If only our ancestors knew what angst they would cause us using second or pet names different surname spellings etc   ::) ::) ::)

Northumberland / Alexander Weightman/Wightman

I am looking for the marriage of Alexander Weightman/Wightman  born 1779 Doddington, Northumberland, died 1847 Doddington, Northumberland. He had 3 daughters Rebekah b.1798 Ann b.1800 and Elizabeth b.1802 all born at Wooler Northumberland. Their mother is listed as Mary but without a surname registered. I've researched what available records of Northumberland and Durham but without any success. Would appreciate any info from fellow Rootchatters TIA  :) :)

Sorry I called you Debbie. It's after midnight here. In 1841 she was living with William Henry Tasker her son but using the name Gardiner That is part of the mystery surrounding her. I wonder why? Guess I'll never know. Thank you for all the trouble you have taken on my behalf it is appreciated greatly
Regards Annie

That is part of the message surrounding Sophia and James Debbie Why she was using the name Gardiner in the 1841,1851and 1861 census but reverted back to Tasker in the 1871 census after which she passed away later that year.  Somewhere in the back of this old mind the name William keeps cropping up. May have something to do with a William Gardiner being a witness at James Berkshire Assize's trial for stealing a pig James committed his crime at South Hinskey which was/is a mile or so from Oxford and not far from Abingdon.

Galway / Lewis/Hickey family
« on: Friday 31 March 23 13:01 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone researching John Lewis and his wife Catherine Hickey from Peterswell Kilthomas? Co Galway and they were Roman Catholic I cannot find when they married but their daughter Margaret Esther was born c.1839. She migrated to Australia in 1856 on board the Ocean Monarch and married William Tasker 1857 in Victoria. On board the ship was a Catherine Hickey aged 17 perhaps her sister? Any information on the family would be greatly appreciated  :)

I am chasing the marriage of Sophia Tasker (nee Eaton) who married James Tasker, convict in Oxfordshire 1808. James was transported to VDL in 1820 after being sentenced at the Berkshire Assizes in Reading the same year I believe Sophia remarried a man called William Gardener/Gardiner/Gardner possibly at Abingdon c 1821.Is it possible for someone to check on this for me please? Thank you in advance  :)

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Birth Mary White a common name!
« on: Monday 25 January 10 20:50 GMT (UK)  »
Would someone be kind enough to look at a record for me?
I found information on a Mary White who was born in 1837 in the sub district of St Thomas which I think is a parish ??? in Liverpool.
According to Mary's marriage certificate here in Oz her mother was Catherine Hartnett and father Edward White and her birthplace is listed as Liverpool. As is the way with common names this family has been a constant frustration trying to find any records of the exact family but I just keep plugging away. :(

Thanks in advance
