That Ellis Spencer married a Margaret Pattison in August 1941

The family then vanish again no sign of a death for either of them

I know from their son Frank that Ellis left the family when Frank was very young he cant even remember  him

So where did he go and what happened to his Mother Sarah Elizabeth Spencer.

Again thank you

Antrim / Sarah Elizabeth Spencer and Ellis Spencer
« on: Friday 23 November 18 22:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help please?

Sarah Elizabeth Stevenson married my Great Uncle Frank Spencer in May 1915 in Cheshire in October of the same year Frank got killed on the Somme.
We thought there was no children from the Marriage.
Sarah was an Irish Girl whose parents lived in Kilda Street in Belfast.

On November 11th 2018 I had a message from Frank and Sarah's Grandson also called Frank Spencer he was trying to trace his Grandfathers family.

As you can imagine to hear from someone we didn't even know existed was a lovely shock and to happen on Remembrance Day made it even more amazing.
His fathers name was Ellis Spencer born in February 1916, Ellis left Frank and his Mum when Frank was very young and Frank knows nothing about him

His mother had passed away and he had found papers with information about his Grandfather Frank

We cant find any trace of Sarah or her son Ellis after his birth
We are wondering if after Ellis's birth in 1916 she returned to Belfast

Can anybody find any records in Northern Ireland for either of them.

Here's hoping.

Rgds

Hi

Thanks for your reply.
As far as I am aware they were not receiving anything from the parish both my Gt Grandfather and Gt Gt Grandfather were Brick makers and always in work.

I now understand what "pauper graves" actually means
I always thought the term meant that the family couldn't afford to pay and they were paid for by parish.

I will try and track down the Day Books - never heard of that term before.

Thank you again for your help

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Details of Pauper Graves in Acton St Mary Churchyard
« on: Monday 06 June 16 19:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anybody tell me where you can details of Pauper Graves in Acton St Mary Churchyard?

I know from the Burial Records that both my Gt Gt Grandparents John and Ruth Spencer and also
my Gt Grandparents Edwin and Elizabeth Spencer are buried in the Cementary.

After spending hours searching the Graves Stones in Cementary with no luck I have come to the conclusion there is no stone or if there is its unreadable.
I have emailed the church some 2 months ago and to date have had no reply.

We have a funeral plaque for my Gt Gt Grandmother Ruth Spencer (nee Lewis) including a small picture which states she was buried there in 1878.

Somebody has told me that these plaques were purchased by the family if they couldn't afford a head stone or a Grave is this correct?

I am now thinking pauper graves anybody know how I could find out.

Many Thanks

Cheryl

Hi

Thank you so much for your replies.

I have now found the birth for Ruth Lewis born in 1816 with parents Edward Lewis and Ann Griffiths, on every Census Ruth states she was born in Buckley Flintshire on the birth it states Bistre Flintshire is that the same sort of area?
It states her father as a Brickmaker.
This is the only birth I can find for Ruth Lewis born that year with a father of Edward.
I know her birth year is correct because we have a funeral plaque which has here picture on a states her age at death is also agrees with every Census.

On Ruth's marriage certificate in 1840 it states her father was a labourer

On the 1841 Census John and Ruth Spencer (nee Lewis) were living next door to an Edward Lewis and Catherine on the Census Edward is listed as a Brickmaker.

I have now looked for Issac Lewis and I agree they had the same parents.

I know some families carry names down in the family so I looked at that but John and Ruth had children called Ann and Catherine so that didn't help.

Does anybody know where and which church would have the baptism records for Buckley?

I am struggling what to do next

Hi

I am beginning to think that Ruth's parents were Edward and Ann not Edward and Catherine.
I have found a birth for  Ruth with parents Edward and Ann.
But how can I be sure that they are her parents?
