World War Two / Re: Help with RAF WW2 Info Please.

I think the aircraft in the middle photo is a Halifax.

298 Sqdn operated the HP Halifax on S.O.E. duties as well as towing gliders for D-day and Arnhem. They went to Woodbridge to tow gliders for the Rhine crossing. (from Wikipedia).

I now think the person in the photo is a member of the OddFellows, and the collar appears to be that of Financial Secretary who sits with the Treasurer.

There are initials on the two badges on the Collar, F.S. is on his left lapel but the other is unclear. I've looked up RAOB on their website & Wiki and they do not seem to have any offices with those initials.

The waistcoat/collar is unlike any Freemason regalia I'm aware of, so which Order he is a member of is a puzzle.

The Buffs is also short for the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), and this waistcoat looks similar to their regalia.

I would say that he has nothing to do with the army regiment.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Bowmen/bowman what?

Could it be Bowman's Lane?

I have two instances of Registrar's using a very flowery capital L that looks like the letter R- it took me ages to find my brother's birth registration as even on the GRO index his surname is under 'R' instead of 'L'.

There are a couple of Ivy Page's registered in Birmingham in 1924, mothers maiden names are 'Mowbray' in the Jun qtr & 'Mancer' in Sept qtr.

There is also an Ivy Manning with mmn Page in Sept qtr 1923.

Let's hope Putin does not have any terminal illness, for if he has he will not care about the world or anything else his actions result in.

The Lighter Side / Re: Mystery male spouse - Wierzgon (where's e gone?)

The record you found is a birth registration - Wiezgon is supposed to be the mothers maiden name.

Michael.

Edit - emphasis on 'birth'.
