Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Thomas Burns c 1770
« on: Sunday 08 April 12 10:37 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find any information regarding Thomas Burns born Scotland and according to his daughter's marriage certificate on 08/11/1838 he was a gardener.  I have tried Ancestry and Scotlands People but as yet no joy. I have no idea how old he may be or where he came from within Scotland or where he lived when his daughter married in Westbury-on-Trym.  Any ideas?

I have just noticed that you have an interest in family name Rook. We have some in our tree based in Woodwalton. Any connection?

Thank you very much for the information. Where would I find the parish record? Also do you think that my John was born after 1773 and not baptised but I do not understand either why he wasn't if other children were.  He was a staunch Primitive Methodist for a lot of his life maybe he was with relatives.  What would you surmise in order to progress the research? Angela.

Bedfordshire / John Cross Tilbrook c1777

Please can anyone help trace John Cross c 1777. From a Peterborough Mission Obituary of 1858 and census records John Cross was born in Tilbrook around 1777 but I cannot, for certain, connect his parents or siblings.  The Cross family once it was established in Upwood Huntingdonshire was very large and there were a lot of John's, William and Thomas' as you may expect. I hope that someone may also have this person in their tree and then my search over the past 10 years would be concluded. Any hints welcomed.

Thank you so much for the above information. I have been on this trail for almost a decade. I have trawled so many census returns since the coming of the internet.   Originally I only had my gran (2nd wife) year of death to go on. People are so generous with their time and help. Angela.

I have Henry marrying 03/02/1901 Elizabeth Ann Hodgson in the Peckham area of London. A witness at their marriage was Daisy Ann KEZIA Marsh. I had never heard of this forename before seeing the certificate. Now a Kezia is offering me information. Wow.

I would like to confirm the parents and siblings of Joseph John Sparrow. Have searched the census 1871 to find the information given.  Would I need to look at parish records or just buy a birth certificate using census information?

Yes this is the information I had found, I had wondered about the Leonel H Day too.  Would you buy the birth certificate on this information? Also how would I find which orphanages were in the Ipswich area? Could it be a poor house do you think?
