Fermanagh / Re: Mary Burns m. Patrick O'Rourke

following up on your latest questions.
Yes that is the John Burns at No 8 Tievebunion, Agho / Augho has also come up, If I remember this was the DNA contact that matched an O'Rourke cousin in Penn. USA, Mary's first son Francis. They couldn't shed an light on Mary, but did say that there were Burns still farming in that area.
Mary's parents were not designated as deceased at her death in 1866.
Mary's last O'Rourke son, Patrick, was born 1850 according to Scottish Census records, but no info on her husbands death. no sign of him in Scotland. possibly they did arrive after the 1851 census.
There are a few Burns families in the Bothwell district but so far no indication of family ties. There is also an Elizabeth Burns from Augho in the 1911 & 1901 Ireland census
Quite a few indicators but no records of either Mary or Patrick in Ireland

Thank you all for your quick replies, I did send replies, but to be honest haven't used RootsChat for many years and just getting to grips with the messaging system. I think I sent the replies as PM's.
I have been through the issues you raised, including the NI records.
Mary & Patrick were Catholic, although Mary m Bernard Short in non Catholic church in Scotland 1854.
We do have DNA contacts to a Burns descendant but can't confirm any Facts in Irish records to-date.
Philip's references to Shanmullagh  we believe is in Cleenish and is Close to Knocknahunsin. The DNA match is with a Burns descendent with ancestors in Tievebunnion, Also have a 1901 Web Ireland census for a John Burns & family living in Tievebunnion, who may be a brother or cousin. But still missing records of Patrick or Mary in Fermanagh. Mary's parents are recorded(at Mary's death) as John Burns & Mary Burns, not sure if this is the mother's MS or not.

Looking for information on the above in Fermanagh. The marriage gave 6 sons Francis, John, Philip, James Daniel & Patrick between 1838-50
Patrick O'Rourke, b. abt 1820Fermanagh was said to be from Shanmullagh, Fermanagh by his sonPhilip and Philip recorded that he was born in Knocknahunsin (spelling?).
Mary Burns also Fermanagh b.1820 is thought to have lived close to the Lietrim border, possibly Tievebunion.
Mary is next found in 1854 (marriage) Bothwell, Scotland with 5 of her sons (Francis emigrated to Archbald, Penn. USA) in late 1850's and was located. her husband Patrick may have died around 1850' and Mary m. Bernard Short in the 1854 Bothwell marriage. Have the tracked the family in Scotland, but looking for any information on both Mary and Patrick in Fermanagh, and their parentage

Many thanks for the copies of the Postcards, this is very likely Robert, but unfortunately we have no photographs of Robert to confirm.
Robert left UK in 1912 and landed in Wellington same year. The next siting of him is his death in 1917
in Otago in the South Island
I do however suspect this is him, and he looks in the right age bracket
Thanks again

For completion, Robert Beveridge Currie, details in initial post, died in Dunedin N.Z. in 1917 @age of 29. It notes a marriage to Isabella Hart in Edinburgh, and that he was in NZ for 1 yr. only. No other details of wife, informant was the Undertaker. Presume he was  on his own.

Monaghan / Re: Andrew MOORE born Monaghan 1847
« on: Wednesday 08 October 14 21:06 BST (UK)  »
I have the same Moore/Muir family with a link to the name Foster.
My GGrandfather married a Maria Moore/Muir around 1858-60 in Monaghan accoring to the birth cerificate of their son. The Parish was pretty elegible on the certificate but began with Drum... it looks like the Monaghan Parish of Drumsnat is the most likely match. Maria and her husband moved to Scotland very soon after the marriage. The family story was that it was a Catholic/Protestant marriage and the couple eloped (or escaped?). Their second son my grandfather was given the name Foster (a very un-catholic name at that time), and as yet I haven't found the source of the name. Maria's parets were William Muir and Sarah Brown. You will note that the Family name is alternately recorded Moore or Muir.
During my search for a 'Foster' I did find a Foster Muir in Coatbridge, Scotland who also hailed from Monaghan of similar ages with Maria, and who by coincidence? recorded his parents as Archibald Muir & Sarah Brown... Brother, Step Brother, Cousin..., or simply coincidence. They all lived and died in Coatbridge, and at times living very close to one another, but as yet I have definite links

Robert B Currie found on 1911 Census age 23, at Seton House, Galashiels, with parents Mary & Andrew and sister Ethel May. However still no further indications of either marriage or death, nor any record on CWGC, war dead site.
Immigration remains a possibility but no obvious records on Ancestry Immigration records that use the Beveridge middle name.

Hi Ev
Thanks for a quick reply.
No, his parents died in Galasheils, and I've found marriages for most of his siblings. His father and Uncle George Hardie Currie(m. another Squair sister) appear to have had interests in the Woolen industry.
At least one of his siblings (Andrew, Agnes & William) died in Edinburgh.  Robert is the only one not found.

Apologies I didn't sign original posting, Philip Rourke is my GGF,  and are my father's forenames

of Seton House, Galashiels, born 1888 to Andrew L Currie & Mary Squair.
Cannot find Robert's Marriage or Death certificates in Scotland, possibly he dropped the Beveridge name, but don't think that's likely. Likely he may have emigrated. Robert was descended from Curries of Howford, and great nephew to John Lang Currie the Australian Pastoralist and Pioneer, so Australia as well as the US are possibilities
I don't discount WW1, but no obvious connections on CWG site.
Is there anyone researching the Currie family who can assist.
