Hello Julie
Thanks for that  bit of informati.on.
The reason I put the original request is this.  I am a picture framer and a customer brought the picture in to be reframed. He had owned it for many years and didn't know anything about it, only that he liked it.  As I made similar appeals before I rashly told him I would find out about it and luckilly before the day was out I had.
Your contribution has just made it even more exciting.
Many thanks.
Michael

The Common Room / Re: What relationship?

Thanks for that.
Where does the removed come in?
I think I'm in disgrace for putting this in the wrong place. Its a long time since I've been on here and it seemed a bit confusing.

Thank you all so much. My friend will be thrilled to know where it is and a little about the artist.
He's had the picture for about 30 years!
Warm regards
Michael

It looks similar to Ty Crwn Roundhouse Prison in Barmouth Wales. There is a rocky outcrop behind it too, though I haven't found a photo taken from the exact angle of the painting so am unsure if this is the place.
That's it! That's exactly the one. Thanks so much everyone.

Further to Ellenmai's Cornwall clue, there is a "roundhouse" at Sennen Cove thought I don't think this is the place depicted in the painting.
It is a possibility though.

Oh, good find Ellenmai; the style is exactly his.

I want one  :). My mother's family came from the area too.

Thanks!  The picture on that website is very much the same style.
