Thanks for that - another branch to investigate - now has Devonshire Place been demolished or is it just known as Charles Street - it looks a well established road on google streetview but I'm no expert on architecture  ;D

Wow so much info. Thank you!

Research finds Ellen (nee Field/s) died in 1856 aged 22 - resulted in 4 off-spring

Then my friend has a Philip Lelland marriage in Hurdsfield in 1859 to Elizabeth Hammond as the next event - resulted in 7 off-spring

I'm not sure how the Wheelton marriage fits in yet

Best wishes!

Just checked my friend's tree and it states the following Mottershead children for Philip & Elizabeth/Betty:

Abraham 1824-1875
Mary Ann 1826
Philip Leyland 1829-1891
Eliza 1838
Eleanor 1840
Eve 1846

yet their marriage is listed as Feb. 1838 in Gawsworth, Cheshire

Thanks for that - sorry I forgot to give the date of death in my first post - 28 December 1860 - yes it is the same - I’ll assume it is the right one, as no other near matches found so far.

Best wishes
