World War One / Re: REGINALD BUCKNALL

Have you tried posting this topic on the Great War Forum website, there are some very knowledgable people on that site who may very well be able to help you to pursue your research further, and to advise you what to do next. I do recommend this website.

World War One / Re: uncle in WW1 ?

The national Archives website in the medal index cards section have a record for George Harold Wooton in the Suffolk Regiment It will cost you £2.00 to download his record. No James Henry Wooton, only a James Herbert  and Henry J Wooton. No Joseph Mason Wooton, but 2 for Joseph Wooton.
If you have an Ancestry subscription they have now  got the records up to W , as your man (men) are there as well.

I have looked up your man on the Ancestry website in their military records and on findmypast website and the National Archives. There is no record in the name of Reginald Bucknall. There is nt any record of a death on the CWGC website either. He may well have changed his name as you suggested. Sorry.

The Common Room / Re: Do you have an Ag Lab in your tree? TV programme
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 17:29 GMT (UK)  »
All my ancestors on both sides of my dads family were Ag Labs, they were born and bred in two villages in Huntingdonshire (little has changed), and also Worcestershire. Dad traced them back to the late 1500 s. He told me that his line of family were `boring`. I have always been very proud of them and after watching these programs, even more so, and totally un boring.

I was with Aol for five years. Their service was appalling especially this last year. Last month, i changed to Sky.  Its absolutly super. I switch my computer on and im connected within seconds.
The plus side is that we are now saving at least £40 a month.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Royal albert orphanage ,Bagshot

I know this was a few weeks ago, but just saw this thread. I took the liberty to look for these 2 children on the 1911 census, on the National Archives website. William John  Smallwood born 1903 aged 8 is in an Institution in Farnham, Surrey, and Joseph Horace Smallwood born 1904 aged 7 is living in a Household in West Ham, Essex.
You will have to pay for the full transcripts from FindMyPast website.

Armed Forces / NEW MILITARY DOCUMENTS to be released
« on: Saturday 14 February 09 19:31 GMT (UK)  »
Though not until 2011. I received an email today from FindmYPast website stating that they. along with the NA, are scanning the WO97 documents Royal Hospital Chelsea Service documents 1760-1913. Plus the WO96 papers War Office Militia Attestation papers 1806-1915 documents are being scanned. They hope to have both sets in there entirety by 2011. Around 9 million records will be made available, searchable by name.

World War One / Re: RND Casualties 1914-1918 now on-line
« on: Friday 01 February 08 20:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am sorry, i should have said what this list included. Ancestry say that "The following is a list of the following in the RND-
Royal Fleet Reserve
Royal Marine or Marines
Royal Marine Artillery
Royal Marine Band
Royal Marine Light Infantry
Royal Navy
Royal Naval Reserve
Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve
Royal Naval Sick Berth Reserve"
As i said before i dont know if this a complete list of names. In my experiance with Ancestry, they appear to do the names in batches, as they did with the List of Pensions and as they are now doing with the Service Records.
