Family History Beginners Board / Re: Poulson family Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 29 March 23 16:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi yes still interested in anything to do with the Poulsons. I do DNA match Shepherd so that's a possible for parents.
I tend to use DNA a lot now it's helpful but sometimes you forget the tree which is very important.
I have the father of Christopher and George as Christopher c1750. Just got to look at my DNA matches as one did have Mothers surname as Sergeant sorry spelling may be wrong. Her name was Margaret Sergeant c1741 to 1806.

Hi thanks for your reply to a very old post. It is interesting as Adams is in my direct line with Skipper also and Hatton I did think was a possible married partner to one of my Cann males.
Can we pm each other on here to talk further ?

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Re: LAVENHAM Baptism look up please - POULSON

I see you have Durrant in your interests I have a Louisa Durrant c1842 who married Joseph Bridge c1839.I have some conflicting info found regarding her birth place. Their son Walter John Bridge c1862 I have not found his baptism.
Walter married Mary Ann Stutchbury in Newcastle upon tyne district in 1886.
Their daughter Jane Isabella Bridge c1893 born Tynemouth district married my Great Uncle Fred Cann c1891.
Can you shed any light on Louisa Durrant's birth place? She married Joseph Bridge in Bury st Edmunds in 1861. I have followed some census info but it does not quite add up and I wonder if the first name was incorrect. Thank you

Thank you Kevin its great to hear this extra info and you never know what it could lead to. I do believe in branching out as I do think a family tree is a great big puzzle with a lot of pieces missing. I just need to find the missing pieces.
Thanks again for replying  :)

Quite interested in this thread as I have Poulsons in Liverpool and also have other ancestors in Norfolk Suffolk areas but no Poulsons that I know of. Still wonder if these Poulsons do in fact link up somewhere with the Liverpool ones.
Also I do have a Harry Poulson c1864 in my notes I have him born or bap Cosford Suffolk Preston? Maybe I wasn't sure of his birth place. Harry married Ada E Hunt c1869
I believe they had a son Robert C Poulson c1900 who married Lily Ambrose
I do know someone with my Cann lines has these Poulsons in her tree too.
Have not been able to view her tree though.
Just in case I have confused you all my birth name was Cann and my family were from Norfolk mainly but ended up for me in North East England as did some of the Poulson descendants but those Poulsons were from Liverpool. So you see i would love to see any links.
Just to say I thought it was Preston Lancashire but there is obviously a Preston in Suffolk gets confusing when you have same names in similar sounding places.
I do have children of Robert C Poulson and Lilly Ambrose as their children are on freebmd.
I have connected to Grace Poulson their daughter c1920 They are born Cosford district Suffolk
I see this is not far from Bury St Edmunds which is where a Bridge family member is said to come from in my tree. That family members daughter married my Great Uncle Fred Cann.
Grace Poulson married Kenneth Boreham in my tree and he was born I think in Bury St Edmunds.
Just followed Kenneth back in my tree and they do connect to my Bridge's

I had put Thomas in my notes as a possible brother to Christopher Poulson c1770 and also that put Thomas was a sugarbaker
I also have George Poulson bap 1771 st Nicholas Liverpool as possible brother to Christopher
Just noticed this is another thread that I haven't seen before with a lot more info.
I shall have to have another look at the Savage connection etc. I do have that surname elsewhere in my tree.

Just got in from a weekend away and I will take a close look at what you have given me,I'm amazed thankyou.
I do have some info and yes you have the right family and yes they did change surname to McDonald from McDonnell.
Some info I don't have and I did have Portsea Island as a possible and now looks very likely.
I don't know  the year William died I just know it was after my Uncles marriage which was around 1952ish as I have a photo with him at my Uncles marriage.
Thankyou for taking the time to find out this info for me.
I did have the McNamara and Wilson as witnesses to marriage but I have Barry Surname as a witness also on the certificate.
I have Patrick c1840 as Richards father but I only know he is a Mason on marriage cert as desceased. Patrick McDonnell kindof common in Ireland but possibly Cork?may help.
Can't wait to chase all this extra info up and heres to finding new relatives and ancesters. :)
Thanks again  :)
I do actually have my Grandads DOB as 19th march 1902 along with a few other DOB of siblings from army records  I can't remember?I did think Catherine may have died. They had 2 children died according to census records?
Bridget I did have the Bridget Alice reference so I thought that was right and you have made me see I was probably correct with that too thanks.
I was given Army records in the past from someone on this site but they were too small for me to view which meant I had to try and decipher some things and other things he did tell me so I did have some of what you have given me.
Just the fact that you have found some things that I thought were correct makes me very happy and makes me believe that my research is going in the right direction  :)
Some of DOB I got from family search.
