Added to which your subject title is most unhelpful!
If this is a genuine genealogical question in accordance with Forum rules, then please repost with a meaningful title (as set out in the guide).

Extending my previous theory to a marriage….maybe they also were not associated with any church and not be located anywhere long enough that would time for banns or licence.

Great bit of research and writing up clearly!
I’ve nothing to offer other than to observe that whilst civil registration commenced in 1837, it didn’t become a legal requirement until the 1870s (sorry exact date not to hand). Is it possible that an itinerant family didn’t bother in the bustle of travelling from place to place?

Welcome to the forum.
In addition to jamcats comment, please note that the forum rules do not allow anything about people who may be living. However don’t let that put you off adding the info suggested as that might still be useful.

Thank you PP for coming back.
If you need further guidance with the Swiss element of your research, then there are a few here with knowledge who can help.
The same also applies for France.

There is a specific section of rootschat for Scotland. I’ve asked mods to move this thread to there. More likely to attract attention!

Hi,
It would be very useful for users if you put the area covered in the title.
Thanks.

I’ve done a very basic search on some online Swiss newspapers websites without obvious success.  You may wish to try a more in depth search.

Thank you I will give it a try… though my German is rather limited.

Geneva is in the French speaking part of Switzerland. All Swiss websites have multi-language options (German, French, Italian, plus a goodly number with English as well), so look for a language option usually top right of the home page.
