Hi Julie
Without being able to view your tree it would be difficult to find any connection between our Martin families. All I can say it that I have 6 James Martins in my tree who were all born in Kent. James b1747 and James b1771 both born in Brenchley, Kent. James b1817, James b1847, James b1869 and finally James Henry b1879 all born in Maidstone, Kent.

Hi Julie
Just to add that I’ve now looked at the family trees on Ancestry that include your John Alfred Martin and I can’t find any connection with my Martin ancestors.
All the best, Genna

Hi Julie
The Martins in my family tree originate from Kent going back to the 1700s.  I’m afraid I don’t recognise the Martins you have mentioned and none are part of my family tree.
The Rimmers in my tree are from Lancashire going back to the mid 1700s.
As for the Brook(e)s and Woolleys, they relate to my husband’s ancestors and originated from Worcestershire in the early 1800s.
I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful.
Regards Genna

Hi Dean

I guess I should have mentioned that I've already found the burial record for a R Little 1835.

I'm having trouble attaching an image so if you're OK with sending me your email address via a PM I'll send it on to you. Image shows age as 29, Profession and Residence - Late Town Guard Sergeant - Police Office. Buried, Military Burying Ground, Fort William. It doesn't help to confirm, or not, if this particular R Little is the father of Robert Thomas.

Regards Helen

Hi Dean

I’ve decided to buy Stephen’s book so I’ll get back in touch with you when I’ve had time to read through it. Thanks again for the excerpt. That prompted me to purchase the book.

Hi Dean

Many thanks for the excerpt. I shall see what I details I can find for those mentioned on the page.

Having done research for myself and others for over 20 years I like to see sources cited/referenced. I, like many others, have come across numerous errors in family trees and these errors are often copied into other trees and so it goes :)

Hi Dean

The reason I asked where you got the information about the birth of Robert Thomas Little in Bombay in 1830 is that the same details are shown in several trees on Ancestry but none cite a source. I agree that the burial entry for Robert Thomas gives his age as 74, so born 1830, however a transcript by FIBIS of an entry in The Times of India in 1904 gives his age at death as 72, so born in 1832. The transcription also says Robert Thomas was the son of the late Robert Little of Loughrea, Galway, Ireland. I have taken that as indicating that Robert Little (Snr) lived and died in Ireland. Isabel Emily, one of the daughters of Robert Thomas gives her father's place of birth as Ireland in a census of 1900.

Does the section in Stephen Lally's book about Robert give his wife's name? That might help in looking for details about Robert Thomas.
