Hello people
Hoping someone can show/tell me where Thorny/Thornie Baulk/Balk might have been - Firstly, it is given in a marriage record as place where a father, a cowfeeder lived - and what county is/was this, and St Cuthbert's in? and West Kirk?
1780 OPR St Cutherbert's

then for the birth of a child of Alexander BULLOCH and Janet PARK thus -
1788 OPR St Cuthbert's
Bulloch - Alexander Shoemaker at Thorny Balk & Janet Park his Spouse, had a Daughter Born Saturday the
first Inst (March)  ---- named Jean
Witnesses The Congregation of West Kirk

« on: Friday 02 February 18 00:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello People -
I'm hoping someone can read these 2 docs -
One is a marriage record, the other a baptism -
Also, can someone advise as to which county I'd be looking for
The docs have come from Scotlands People
Many thanks in advance
(FA) Charmaine

The marriage record is for John EDIE and Margaret MEIKLEJOHN -

At the very top of the Marriage doc is written:
05/05/1716 EDIE, JOHN (Old Parish Registers Marriages 374/ 10 228 Logie) Page 228 of 294 - and the usual copyright details
------------
The baptism record is for Margaret EDIE -

At the very top of the Birth doc is written:
11/11/1722 EDIE, MARGARET (Old Parish Registers Births 374/ 10 116 Logie) Page 116 of 294 - and the usual copyright details

Norfolk / Re: Griffin LAWS Sarah HEARN
« on: Saturday 19 August 17 04:58 BST (UK)  »
Hoping I'm not throwing a spanner in the works, but I'm also researching HEARNE (variant spellings) in Norfolk.

From census info, I am concentrating on North Repps (red herring, I think), Southrepps (looking promising, actually), and Thorpe Market.  I believe they are about 20 miles from Heigham.  There are plenty of HERN/HURN/HEARN/etc., in the area.

Hello sdbadger !

How did you go with your searching re HEARNE ? I'm wondering if my Sarah HEARN relates to your HEARNE family ?? It isn't a really common name, and to see it in the same county, and possible same areas, is a bit of coincidence, don't you think ?

We don't have much on Sarah except the record of her marriage and the births of her children, and her death - No baptism, no parents - so far - Unless someone out already has the info and hasn't bothered passing it on to other LAWS/HEARN researchers

I have recently done an Ancestry DNA test - I'm hoping others researching similar surnames have also participated and have their results on the site

Cheers   :)

Hi
I have probably come much too late to this, but St Bartholomews Heigham where Griffin Laws married is a parish just on the western side of Norwich.  Griffin's birth can be found in Little Dunham, Norfolk, where he appears baptised on 24/7/1773 as Greffen, the illegitimate son of Greffen (Griffin) Hoy and Mary Lors (Lawes).

Hello Grey Jet ! Well well well - That's brilliant ! Thank you ! I wonder if it's himself ?? I guess I'll have to strain my eyes again with those transcripts lol -
Many thanks Grey Jet - I'll get onto that asap  :)

Hi,

I know his was posted some years ago. I am however a descendent of George and Sarah Clendinning living in Australia. Im contactable at *

Hello    Tbullivant1 -

What line are you from ? - If you've read the other posts on this thread, you'll see I was given some good info to go on - and from that I've since found the marriage of Sarah's parents - Matthew O'DONNELL and Elizabeth PAINE - 02 Sep 1798 at Parish/district of Drumhome Donegal - Mathew's address is given as: Aghdorey, denomination as Church of Ireland - Elizabeth's address not given, and denomination is also CofI - Matthew's father is given as John O'DONNELL and Elizabeth's father as William PAINE - I have also found Sarah's baptism record - 18 March 1809 at Drumhome Donegal Church of Ireland - with both parents listed - unfortunately no actual birth date - Her sister Mary's baptism was in 1805 and Prudence in 1811 - But I've still not found a marriage for Sarah O'DONNELL and George CLENDINNING - I may have found a burial for Elizabeth PAINE O'DONNELL - July 1860 at Templecarne Donegal

My line is from James CLENDINNING the 3rd son of George & Sarah -

Hi,
There is a townland of Aghadowey in the parish of Drumhome in Co. Donegal. It is in the district of Donegal town.

Ah! Those Irish town/villiage/townland names are so confusing ! Thanks so much
