SS,

As far as I know Ellen DUXBURY was born in Hawes, North Riding Yorkshire, and she was named by Edward BLAKEY as his mother in his 1859 criminal records.

I have not found an 1861 Census Entry......believing possibly he had migrated to Canada.

The 1861 census I found earlier now makes sense. Having been in trouble with the law he changes his surname. His criminal record records his mothers address as Bent Street, Blackburn as per below in 1861 census.

1861 England, Wales & Scotland Census
Bent Street, Blackburn, Lancashire, England

Please put me out of my misery, how have you established his date of birth.

Please tell me if I'm losing my marbles  ???

In 1851 & 1871 Ellen records her birthplace as Hawes.

1861 census ref 3094 93 26  Image clearly reads surname DUXBURY

BAC3, , without wishing to go over the research you have done and wasting your time could you answer the following.

1 Do you have his birth certificate and was his birth officially registered.
2 When he was baptised in 1846 only his mother is named, no father recorded.
3 When he marries 1st and 3rd times who does he name as his father and fathers occupation.
4 Have you yourself found him in 1851/61 census?

Just making sure I have the right man. Parents John & Elizabeth nee' Whitworth. In 1861 he is still at home with parents and his occupation is recorded as Joiner & builder apprentice.

Cannot see Bridget in England/Wales in 1871 census, so any previous info for her pre 1873 is going to be difficult to find. I see in 1911 she records has having had 3 children, 2 living 1 died, do you know who the third child was?
