I wouldn't mind cloning Percy's pixels in later life too....and giving him a cuddle, I'm not so sure that I would give him back though :P ;D ;D
Carol
Carol,  :P :P ;D ;D, I'm sure Percy wouldn't mind, he had eight daughters, so he had plenty of cuddles.  He was a very good natured, kind and caring man, and a thorough gentleman.  Thanks for the restos and good humour!  :D :D

...and a softer version if you prefer....I gave him a cuddle before I gave him back to you  ;D ;D
Carol
Thank you Carol, both look terrific, as did they photo you restored when he was 10 years old.  ;D

.... and yes, I'd love to give him a cuddle too.  ;D  Seeing you cared for him from the time he was a baby till he was a ten year old, ha ha, I'll post a photo of him when he was 20 and another when he was 41.  He did grow into a handsome man.

Kind Regards, Aussielass :)

I cheated and chopped off the large prop at the bottom as I wasn't sure what it was :-X

Thanks Gadget, ha ha!!  Great job, the prop at the bottom looked like a large paper bag, no loss, the main subject looks good.  I hope it is dear little Lily, as I mentioned, she drowned in a well at the age of 4.  Poor little thing, so sad.

Hi Peter, very nice clean up of the two little Duggan's, thank you, they look great!  :-*

Dumb of me to not have the name of the restorer in the file name of the 10 year old one of Percy, I do believe it was Carol, so credit for the great resto.

Thanks also Peter for the clarification of "who's who".

Kind Regards,  Aussielass

Thank you Carol,

The first photo does have Percy written on the back of it, even though his clothes look more feminine than the second photo.  On that basis, I would have to assume that the second photo is his sister Lily even though she looks more like a boy.  The child in the 2nd photo also has smaller eyes. Percy didn't have small eyes, as per the attached photo when he was about 10 years old.
Sadly we have no later photos of his sister to compare, because she drowned in a well at the age of four.

Japeflakes, thank you, they really were in poor condition, and your quick clean worked wonders.

Hi, it would appreciated if both children could please have a clean up, they are both looking a bit grubby.

Aside from needing a good clean up I'm not sure who is who, I am trying to determine which one is the male, and which is the female.

What we know -  A male child was born in 1887 (Percy) and female (Lily) born in 1890 (brother and sister).  I have learnt not to guess gender of a baby/child photo of that era based on the clothing.  Boys were often photographed in what looked like a dress often a christening gown.

My dilemma is that someone has written Percy on the back of the "Massingham photo" which I would have expected to be Lily, because the child looks more like a girl.

In a nutshell, does anyone think the baby in the "Bloch" photo could be female, even though she looks more like a boy?

The photographer listed as Theodor Bloch operated in Geelong form 1888-1891.  Massingham from 1886-1902.

Age I am guessing for the child in the Massingham photo would be 12 - 18 months, and the "Bloch" photo maybe a bit less.

Sorry if I have used too many words, I'm just trying to explain myself, Apologies if I sound confusing.  ::) ::)

Kind Regards,  Aussielass  :)

Just something to think on - Jim and I dated the first photo as late 1860s- 1870s but came down on 1870s because of the back. If this photo is also 1870s, is it the same person or is the later photo an 1880s one :-\

Gadget

Add - I think the second one is late 1870s - early 1880s.  If born 1852, he would be 18- early 20s in first one and late 20s-early 30s in the second.

Thanks Gadget, yes I agree, he is more youthful in the first photo and has matured in the 2nd, so late 20's - early 30's certainly fits.  He didn't marry until 1883, so the 2nd photo may well fit in with a pre-marriage or even marriage portrait.  Sadly no wedding photos, I do know a lot were discarded  by family at some stage, lucky that we even have the two photos that I posted.  ::) Once again, appreciate your help and advice.

Kind Regards,  Aussielass
