Hi all
I have been trying to search ships list to Australia and came across an abbreviation I am unable to work out.  It looks like Myl?
Can someone help me out please?
I have attached a screenshot of the document

Yes it is sad.  From what I have been told, after some family gossip they found out about the Seekay siblngs, but never spoke of them.  Eliza simply left and never went back to see her children or asked about their welfare after the death of Peter.

My Great Grandmother was essentially orphaned at 14yrs old.

Emily, Charles and Alice Seekay, the 3 surviving children to Peter Seekay and Eliza Norris, never met heir siblings from the Burgess family.

Neither families knew the other existed. Eliza never knew her husband past away.  The 3 children lived with a friend of Peter Seekay, Mr Mclaren, until they became of age.

Charles came to WA in the early 1900's.  Emily arrived after 1909 and their sister Alice lived all her life in Victoria.

Armed Forces / Re: Soldier in 15th Hussars 1845 onwards
« on: Thursday 27 February 20 04:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have been researching my 4th Great Grandfathers military records for the 51st Regiment Kings own and stumbled across his brothers service records.  He enlisted with the 15th Hussars in 1831.  He was a private for the Hussars until January 1854.  In this time, I can only assume the Regiment were sent to India, as he then became a part of the 12th Royal Regiment Lancers in February 1854 to 1856.
Of the 25 or more yrs in service 16 of those years he was in India.

On discharge it was determined he would reside in Bangalore, India.

The information you have posted has helped my research immensely.

Thank you

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Catholic records in Latin

Thank you all for your input.  This is very interesting as I also found the Catholic Marriage of Sarahs parents, William Wagstaff And Mary Ann Murphy, and it was also written that they had been previously married in another conventional, most probably protestant.  This may have been in Ireland, and with the destruction of records over there it have been near on impossible to find that marriage and the births of their first to children, Mary ann and Sarah.
Thank you again
