Mike,
  Thanks for the reply
The Richard Hannam that you found in St James's Street is the person  that I am stuck with. You are correct  his shop with some alterations was about three houses north (towards Piccadilly )  of Bootles Club. also he had a son Richard b 1760 and a grandson Richard b 1793, both attorneys.

The number of variations of this name they have used in various places to say the least makes life interesting add to that strange script and old documents what more could you want. Thanks anyway

Hi Milliepede
Thanks for the reply

The only thing that looks like an address is the entry on FindMyPast mentions Doan Street if that is of any help, I don't seem to be able to find that either.

Thanks Steve

Hi

I am looking for the death and, or burial of Richard Hannam. He has become a very high and solid brick wall to me.
A brief history I located him in St James's Street Westminster through to poll tax books and established that he had had his shop there from about 1774 till about 1785 which seems to be when he retired. his wife was called Elizabeth ? date of marriage ?. I can find nothing about where Richard came from before he had his shop. the info that I do have is the names of all his children, dates of  their birth and Baptism but little else he is just a mystery.

What I have found which may help is a burial in Aldgate Middlesex Saint Botolphs Parish which states that he or someone with a similar name died in 1822  and was born 1732  which makes him the ripe old age of 90 which is a good age for those times and I would like to rule it in or out.

The problem that I have is that the surname on the burial has the name  spelt H?Pman  which I assume is erosion. which is a good likeness for his name but I would like more proof that it is him, the dates would fit but again the are only estimates based on the ages of his children, born from 1758 to 1769 in St James Westminster.

If anyone can suggest a course of action or any thing else it would be appreciated I do not seem to be able to turn up any info on aldgate cemetery.

Warwickshire / Re: Blackburn Plumb missing birth

Hi Rachel
I have not visited this family for quite a while, I am a bit rusty about who is who.  If you give me a few days I will get back to you with some sort of a reply. The Plumb's belong to my partners tree and Blackburn b abt 1720 is her 5th Great Grandfather.

This line goes through the 2 Blackburns, Richard b 1755 Ettington, Richard b 1790 Luddington Warwickshire, Richard b 1817 Long Marston Gloucester, Henry Lomas Plumb b 1857 Dorsington Glou,  and  then Arthur Geoffery Bolton who Married Francis Victoria Plumb in 1921 in Bridlington North Riding.

Be in touch soon

Steve

I had not noticed the spread of dates for Benjamin, I agree can't all be one and the same wife.
All the Richard Hannam's around Retford belong to my main tree and their families are all accounted for.
I agree with you regarding Greenhill, Sheffield it was in Derbyshire until quite recently.
The two Richard Hannams residing in Worksop and surrounding area were both solicitors/attorneys,the elder Richard serving his indenture mainly in Westminster and was also the father of the younger Richard b. 1793, which is where my search began, as you can see William who died in 1823 was also a solicitor, and had offices at Piazza Chambers, Covent Garden around the same time. I was convinced that with the name Hannam and the proximity of the two solicitors there must be a family link somewhere but so far I have been unable to find it.
There are many different spellings of the name Hannam this is probably just one of them.

Thanks arthurk
The only other info I have on his family is, Parents were Benjamin Hannam  and Ann Pidle married 11th Oct 1743 London Middlesex (Clandestine). They had about 8 children born between 1747 and 1802 including either 2 or 3 Williams

Thanks Maggie
That info changes things, it looks like this is the wrong one. the Richard I am looking for was born circa 1760 which would make him a very old man in 1926 when he married
