Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 Census Porlock
« on: Sunday 05 July 09 20:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi Jenny,

Thank you so much for your post. I now have the burial details for Thomas and Mary Huish and information on their 10 children.

I also have information on several other Huish from Porlock although I haven't been able to link them to my ancestors. I haven't been able to find a baptism for Thomas c. 1781, although I do have baptisms for children of Thomas & Jane. I think that my Thomas may have been baptised elsewhere to different parents.

I will send you a personal message as I suspect we may be related.

Best regards,
Ceci

Hi,
I have just sent you a Personal message. Samuel was the son of Robert & Elizabeth as you will have gathered from the monumental inscription. I do not know much about him, but have some possible finds on passenger lists to the USA which we could discuss and see if they lead anywhere.

Regards,
Ceci

Hi Anna,

How very exciting! William Dobson c. 1744 was my 5x Great Gandfather. I am descended from his son Robert. I would love to work with you on this. I will send you a personal message with some more information.

Bset regards,

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1871/1881 census address COMPLETED

Hi David,

Yes you are right, she did divorce her husband. It looks like she was employed by Abraham Robarts at the time, so if she did have help, it was probably from him. Thanks for your help which has given me the information I was looking for.

Many thanks,
Ceci

Hi David,

Thank you for your reply. So my GG Grandmother worked for your GG Grandfather! Her name was Eliza Ann Lyons, and she was born in Melbourn Cambridgeshire in Oct 1839. I have all the census records for her now and know that she was in New Hall, Bodenham, Wiltshire, in 1871, nurse for Edward Buckley, General & magistrate, and his wife Lady Catherine Bouverie.

Do you know whether 29 Hill Street, Berkeley Square was Abraham Robart's London address in 1875/76? Since divorce was quite unusual in those days, I wonder whether she had help and advice from some of the influential people she worked for. Family legend claims that she also nursed King Alfonso of Spain at some point although I can't be sure about this. I know this is a long shot, but have you come across any association between King Alfonso and Abraham Robarts?

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 Census - Emert Duffield

Thank you Tati,

This may well help me to sort out who he is. I found him on a family monument with some others of my known Dutfield family, but couldn't place him.

Many Thanks,
Ceci

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1871 Census - Emert Duffield

Hi,

Please could anyone help me find Ernest Dutfield born about 1862 in Whitechapel and probably living in London in 1871. I would like to know the names of his parents and any brothers or sisters. I think he may have been mistranscribed as EMERT DUFFIELD on Ancestry's index for the 1871 census. He appears to have left home by 1881.

Hi Gogogagdgetlegs,

Thanks for that. I now have baptisms for Robert Charles 1810, Robert 1812, Ann 1814, James Fitzgerald 1816, & Amelia & Charlotte 1818, But I'd be very interested if you have details of any other children.

Thanks, Ceci
