My Thomas Meldrum  mar Elizabeth Shirrilaw 1796 She was aka Isabel/Isabella/ Eliza Shirilaw/Shirrilaw/Sherlaw/ (poss Shearlaw). Their children were:
                                                                                                    1798 Isabel Meldrum
                                                                                                    1800 Thomas Meldrum
                                                                                                    1802 Agnes Meldrum
                                                                                                    1805 Thomas Meldrum
                                                                                                    1807 John Meldrum

Elizabeth Shirrilaw was of the parish when they got married in Dunbar (SE Scotland) Thomas Meldrum was there because he was based in the cavalry there at the time. Their son John is my ancestor.  He ended up in coastal West Lothian. Connection to salt/ early chemical industry, coal mining, labouring, pottery, and railways. Also connection to sailing.I have no trace of John's other siblings after their births. Perhaps they all moved South? Perhaps mother died in child birth or father died?  John Meldrum married Mary Auld 1827 Mary Auld was from Carriden, Linlithgowshire (coastal West Lothian) They had:
Thomas Meldrum born between 1824 -1829 (date varies on diff docs)
George Meldrum c.1832,
John Meldrum c.1834,
Alison Meldrum c.1837,
William Meldrum c. 1838,
Duncan Meldrum c.1840,
Catherine Meldrum c. 1843.
Alexander Meldrum c. 1847
Agnes Meldrum (Signed mothers death cert)

Thomas Meldrum b. 1824-29 married Margaret Arnot aka Arnott There children were:
Margaret b. 1849
Mary b.1851
Janet b. 1852/53
Catherine b. 1854
John b. 1857
James b. 1861
Isabella b. 1863
Jane b. 1865
George b.1868
There are connections to family names: Shirilaw, Auld, McNaughton, Blair, Aitken, Allan,Anderson, Callender, Nimmo,McFarlane, Scotland.
These people mainly resided in  Scotland: East coast, coastal West lothian, Central Scotland. Although some emigrated to US, Canada, Australia.
Generally most lived to a very good age. John Meldrum born 1807 died 1889, having worked as a labourer / coal labourer!
Perhaps this is a bit long winded but I have given the offspring names in case you can see a pattern.
Could there be a link with your research?
