Some of the GAMMIE family of Marnoch are in my direct line, beginning with my 4 x great-grandmother Elizabeth GAMMIE b.1779 daughter of John GAMMIE 1740 and Elspet ELDER, back to 7 x great-grandfather George GAMMIE c1670.  Been a long time since I've looked at this line.  Elizabeth married John REIDFORD.  All in Marnoch area.

I couldn't make out what the date on the scan was.  The John REIDFORD in it is most definitely in our family tree.  Not exactly sure which John he is, with those exact parents.  We have several MORISSONs connected to us over the generations since the 1600s.

Also, one of my 4 x great-grandmothers is a Margaret MILNE.  She was married to John ROSS.  Their daughter Isobel ROSS born 4th October 1809 Forgue Aberdeens, married 20th January 1833 in Marnoch to John REIDFORD born 3rd August 1811 in Marnoch.  John died 12th March 1894 at Barmouchy St Andrew's Lhanbryde.  Isobel died at Culvie Hill Ordiquhill Banffs on 9th May 1889.

Our first REIDFORDs are found at Corskie Farms Marnoch c1650.  I'm in contact via FB with a 2nd cousin of my Mum's (ms REIDFORD) who was born Mary Joss Fyfe REIDFORD in 1968 Banffs.

Neither your Peter, nor George, are found within  http://www.bayanne.info/Shetland/   There is one Peter DUNN but he was born in before 1770 and there is no further details for him.

To Blue_Ian ~  My turn to say sorry.  Surfing REIDFORD tonight I came across this thread & realised I'd not come back to check.  Your Agnes Ann REIDFORD born 1868 is my 4C3R.  My Mum's ms is REIDFORD.

The first European settlement at Antigonish was in 1784.  Timothy HIERLIHY (brother to my 5 x great-grandfather Phillip HIERLIHY of Miramichi) is considered the founding father of the town.  Timothy & Phillip were Irish, so possible your ancestors relocated to Anitgonish after the settlement got going, perhaps from Halifax.

I'm in contact with at least one descendant (might be 2) of this branch of REID family.  Joanne is on my Face Book friends' list.

@ Northern Jo ~  You have - REID (and associated families of HERON, KEITH, REIDFORD/REDFORD, MORRISON, WEBSTER, PIRIE, OGILVIE, DINGUAL, LAURENCE, GRANT, FRASER, and FORBES) originated in Banffshire, Scotland

REIDFORD is my Mum's ms.  John REIDFORD born c1595 & Janet FORBES c1600 are my 9 x great-grandparents.  I'd be keen to learn how you relate to these surnames?
