Ok thanks! Did several searches, some came up close but I do not believe its the same people. They may have lived after 1918 after all.

Will keep looking,

Cory

The Common Room / Henry Williams South Staffordshire or Ernest Binns Yorkshire
« on: Tuesday 25 August 15 16:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have recently come across 2 WW1 medals and am simply looking for more information on what happened to these two individuals. I have searched some sites with little info.

The 1st medal engraved on the edge - 201293 - SJT. H. Williams. South Staffs R. On the back it says The Great War for Civilisation. 1914 - 1919.

The 2nd medal engraved on the edge - 112687 - CPL. E. Binns. R.E. This medal appears to be silver. I believe he served for W. Yorkshire and was in France at some point.

Anybody out there know if they survived the war? Any distant relatives?

Thank-you,

Cory

I recently obtained a medal from a "CPL Ernest Binns" from the Yorkshire Regiment. Its a WW1 medal and it has the name above on it. I wonder if he's related to any of you?

Hello Robert!

You are a distant cousin to me. Your father had a brother named Harry. I was told your father and family went to Australia in the 1940's, returning to England for a time and then back to Australia in the 1960's. My trail in searching for this family ended there. Can you e-mail me? Perhaps we can exchange information on this part of the family tree. I have added more info over the years but I am lacking photographs. I do have 1 photograph of Alfred & Kate holding Dora Cummins and her sister probably taken around 1905. email address removed by Moderator, please use the PM system to exchange private information

Hi Phil,

So is this the same William Roberts born in 1836? He ended up marrying a Sarah Fletcher around 1859. My entire tree is on www.GenesReunited.com. I can't seem to find a George anywhere which makes me think its a different family, but who knows. William & Sarah end up having a series of children one in particular named Walter (1869) who is my ancestor.

Talk Soon,

Cory

Hi Nell,

On this marriage record you pulled up - does it say anywhere who their parents were? Or anything else on this record. I am pretty sure this is my ancesters marriage!

There is also a marriage that fits your family
Thomas Roberts to Elizabeth Jones
07 Dec 1831 St Chad, Shrewsbury, Shropshire (also an extracted record)
(This an extracted record from the IGI site)

Thats fantastic Nell,

I am going to look into this a bit more deeply on Tuesday and see if I can figure something out.

But thanks again!

Wow thats great Nell.

The parents (Thomas & Elizabeth) ages seem to be a little off but I am pretty sure thats the family. My ancester William was definately born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. I have no idea where he went in 1851 (I am really trying to find out)... but he ends up in Birmingham and marries a Sarah Fletcher in 1857.  On his marriage cert...it says he is a Farmers Bailiff. I wonder if that helps out at all with the census search.

Thanks for everything thus far!!!
