Cavan / Parish Enquiry
« on: Monday 25 March 19 16:01 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandfather joined the Army in 1852. His enlistment record says he was born in Clones Parish Co.Monaghan where I have concentrated my search but on the most  (a newspaper obit ) states he was born in Co Cavan. Can anyone say if there is any part of Cavan in Clones Parish?
Many thanks in advance

My gr-gr-Grandmother Margaret McDonnell [nee Ambrose ] and her daughter Catherine died in a house fire in Govan in Feb 1883. I have their death records and coroner's reports from SP. Another daughter Margaret died in Nov 1883. I only yesterday discovered that all three are buried in Common Ground in St. Peter's cemetery Dalbeth. Can anyone tell me if there are any gravestones in the common ground?

Sligo / Sligo Prison Registers
« on: Friday 23 November 12 15:43 GMT (UK)  »
I have just found today a record on Family Search which states that a Daniel Barr of Cromac Street in Belfast was in Sligo Prison in 1921 on a charge of Assault with intent to rob. I would like to know if it is possible to get further details of the case either on line or otherwise. Thanks in advance

Aghadowey, you suggested looking for an obituary-something I hadn't thought of because it was so long ago. Could you advise on how to go about this. Are there any records on line? I am 50 miles from Belfast so personal visit to Newspaper Offices difficult. Will they respond to an e-mail enquiry. Thanks again!
