The Common Room / Can you identify this music hall song?
« on: Tuesday 16 June 20 13:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I have found a newspaper article from 1888 which states that one of my ancestors sung a comic song called 'I'm Lost'. My ancestor was living in Montreal at the time but he originated from Lancashire.

I was wondering if any one here has ever heard of the song or can track it down please ?

Thank you.

« on: Sunday 17 December 17 00:23 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Great Uncle called Joseph Smith who died 27th August 1953 at The Towers Hospital, Leicester. Would anybody know where a long term patient at the Hospital would most likely be buried or cremated?

Thank you  :)

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Blakiston Baronets of London

Hi John,

I think you might be getting confused as the man in Ireland seems to be Major Charles Blakiston-Houston not the 6th Baronet Charles Edward Blakiston.

There is more information about Major Charles Blakiston-Houston and his wife on this link
http://www.thepeerage.com/p17116.htm#i171159

The 6th Baronet's wife Harriet Eleanor Willes was a sister to my 2 x Great Grandfather, she was born 1861 and died 1953 - if anyone has a photo of her or her husband I would be very interested to see it.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Barton Mills Baptisms - SMITH 1803-1810

Many thanks Annette, I should have checked that but I did check the Familysearch wiki before posting but it doesn't list any baptisms online for Barton Mills so I guess it isn't entirely accurate.

If I check the film numbers for the baptisms you've listed it looks like they are transcribed from the Bishops Transcripts, so on the off chance that there may be gaps in those BT records if anyone has access to the parish records or a transcript from them and can double check whether they are baptised in the parish I would be very grateful.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Barton Mills Baptisms - SMITH 1803-1810
« on: Sunday 10 January 16 17:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have a James Smith born about 1806-1810 in Barton Mills according to censuses. I know he had sisters called Rebecca Smith born about 1805 (my direct line) and Lucy Smith born about 1803, although I do not know if the sisters were also born in Barton Mills as both died before the 1851 census. All three siblings lived in Huntingdon as adults.

Is any one able to check Barton Mills baptisms for these three?

Thank you so much for your help.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Leire Baptisms - Thomas NIXON c.1765

Thanks again  :)

I guess the most likely place for Thomas Nixon to be baptised is Catthorpe as the mother Sarah Hutchins is said to be from there.

Thanks so much Jomot, that is a great help.

I didn't have the settlement information, thank you I will have to order a copy of it. Can I ask where I can find that settlement certificate mention, is it listed online somewhere or in a book as I cannot see it listed on the Record Office online archive catalogue.
