Hi Shaun,

I have yes, it was all very sad.  It says Charles was a businessman/company director and I'd love to know more about that, but I can find no other details.

Oh well, I'll keep searching.

Many Thanks,
Sue  :)

Thankyou amondg,

Great information thanks.

I know Mattishall Church well, I always find it strange when you find these links close to home, it's not the first time either! I'll check out the gravestones when next in the area.

All the best,
Sue  :)

Hi Carole,

I don't have the marriage certificate yet, I'm waiting patiently (not!!!) for the postman to deliver it.

Thanks for the family search entry, I hadn't tried there, and I don't have a worldwide subscription so brilliant.

Hello Rootschatters,

I wonder if anyone could help me on my latest quest? Charles Dunwell Alexander Moffat married my great aunt, Christiane Wilson in 1931, sadly she died the following year but I would love to know more about him.

It looks like he died in 1979 and was born in Jamaica in 1900?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation,
Sue   :)

She married Samuel Walker McIlroy in Belfast around 1888 (taken from 1901 census)
1901 census doesn't give number of years married.

Sorry aghadowey, I meant the 1911 census.   ::)

Thank you for the Eliza Black/McKinley information. It definitely looks like this could be her sister. Therefore, her father is James, not Archibald, so no link there. Unless James and Archibald were brothers???

I have found a marriage in 1881 for Sarah Jane McKinley (with father's name James) to Thomas McMurray and on the 1911 census living with Samuel McIlroy's family is a Mary McMurray aged 28, so it looks like Sarah was married before.  I still can't find a marriage for Samuel Walker McIlroy and Sarah Jane McMurray/McKinley though, or a death for Thomas McMurray.

Still more digging needed I suppose if I'm to solve this family mystery.

Thanks for your help, it is very kind of you.

Regards
Sue   :)

Yes Carole, that is my McIlroy family in 1901 and 1911, although I don't know where Sarah Jane McIlroy was in 1911.

And thanks also Monica for those entries, I knew the birth date of 1858 must have come from somewhere. I will pursue these new lines of research now I know Mary Janes father's name is Archibald McIlroy.

I very much appreciate all your efforts.
