Hi All
I too have been researching John Beardsley & Elizabeth Radford. He was my Gt.Gt.Gt. Grandfather through their son Joseph, b. 1839. There are a lot of Beardsleys in Belper but, as yet, I've had no luck in tracing his parents.
Reference Robert Beardsley, samhuzz, the newspaper articles make interesting reading. My Grandmother could remember him when he came out of prison. She was scared of him. He worked for his father in the butcher's shop and was known as the village 'pig sticker' as he would kill the pigs owned by families in Melbourne.
Will keep searching.
