Trying to find my great aunty Catherine Lomas was born in 1871 I liverpool she had a son Robert Lomas in 1890 his father is unknown so I’m wondering if she had him in the workhouse or a hostel we can’t find any of them in the 1891 census. Can anybody offer any advice please?

Hi Louise maud I have looked in the records it just lists the date of buriels but no grave number and yes when the first baby a boy died their was about four other burials two of whom were women when the little girl,a buriel was recorded there was only one a male so we presumed she would of been buried in that grave.
The frustrating part for us is I just wish they had put the grave number on the records.

I have recently been checking church records for the deaths of two babies who died when they were three and two days old the reference in the records says certified under the burial laws amendment act 1880. We know that both children we baptised and buried in the churchyard but we can't find their graves.
After looking up the amendment act my cousin and I think that the children were buried in an open grave at the time of their death and that they didn't have a service but that the minister would have blessed and prayed over them at the grave side.
Could anybody have any other suggestions as to what we think.

Before 1880 no body could be buried in consecrated ground except with the service of the Church, which the incumbent of the parish or a person authorized by him was bound to perform; but the canons and prayer-book refused the use of the office for excommunicated persons, for some grievous and notorious crime, and no person able to testify of his repentance, unbaptised persons, and persons against whom a verdict of felo de se had been found. But by the Burial Laws Amendment Act 1880, the bodies of persons entitled to be buried in parochial burial grounds, whether churchyards or graveyards, may be buried there, on proper notice being given to the minister, without the performance of the service of the Church of England, and either without any religious service or with a Christian and orderly religious service at the grave, which may be conducted by any person invited to do so by the person in charge of the funeral. The Act also allowed the use of the Church of England Burial service on unconsecrated ground.

Stanley evans married margaret foster April 15th 1933 and I can't find a death for him as his wife remarried in February 1973 to Henry Lomas. So the Stanley you and I have found is a month after she re married. In the 1939 register I found him living with Mary Foster and James Foster 62 spindle hillock which was the address that margaret lived at when they got married.

Trying to find the the death of Stanley Evans who was born 1906 was married to Maggie Foster 15 th April 1933 lived in Spindle Hillock Ashton in Makerfield. He was living at the same address in the 1939 register living with James and Mary Foster.

I am trying to find information about my father in law who was in the fire service in WW11, think he probably started in the AFS and served in Warrington and I think Liverpool which was more severely hit. His name was James (Jimmy) Wright, there does not seem to be many records to look at for personnel information any help would be welcome.
