Thank you everyone for your input. What I really need now is the baptism for James showing the same parents as one of the Edwards. That way I can be reasonably confident that I have the correct one.
Thanks again

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Looking for Stockport Family 1830s
« on: Friday 11 March 16 11:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. Can anyone help please? I am trying to locate the parents or other family of 2 brothers which I am told were born in Stockport. One is Edward  Lomax, born 1830 ?, who eventually married a Louisa Hall around 1858 in Stockport, and the other is his brother James, who married Mary ??. Their first son was born in Adswood? Lane,Stockport 1859, and the remainder of their 7 children look to be born in the US. (Although I cannot positively identify either family from the Castle Garden website) This information has been given by an elderly American relative, so it is all subject to the accuracy of a long term memory, although I have been able to verify quite a lot of what i have been given.
Anything at all would be much appreciated, as I live in Ireland, and am unable to get to a record office.
Thanks In advance

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Lomax -Deane St. Mary-Marriage

The parish burial register (pdf copy from Archive.org), lists both as originating in Farnworth, which I believe, was part of the Deane parish at that time.

Parish registers show the place of abode at the time of the event, and never refer to where the person was born! ;D

Sorry about that Bad choice of words I understand from register that they were buried in Deane but lived in Farnworth I appreciate that particularly in the case of marriages it was less hassle for them to both be "of this parish", whether they were or not

The only marriage showing up on familysearch is John Lomax and Sarah Yates in 1774 in Stockport.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Lomax -Deane St. Mary-Marriage
« on: Saturday 05 March 16 15:05 GMT (UK)  »
Can anybody help please? I am trying to trace the marriage of John Lomax (born abt 1750) and a Sarah(Sally) at St Mary's in Deane. I think it should be around 1775. I am basing my assumptions on the fact that they had eight children and I can find all of their baptisms at this church, beginning 22 Jun 1776. They also were both buried in the churchyard, her 11 Mar 1799, him 25 Apr 1807. The parish burial register (pdf copy from Archive.org), lists both as originating in Farnworth, which I believe, was part of the Deane parish at that time.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Ron

« on: Thursday 25 February 16 13:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Can anyone help please. I am trying to trace the origin of a Thomas Lomax, who married Ellen Roberts at St Mary's Ruabon in 1892. The Thomas I am looking for came from the Bolton area, and his father was Robert, a blacksmith. Any info much appreciated, thanks
