Flintshire / Re: Does anyone have access to Flintshire PR's ?

Sorry folks but I've gone back as far as I can with this one.

I have the Marriage Certificate for William VAUGHAN and Sarah Frances METCALFE in 1885, Iíve laboured long and hard to find his father, but, unfortunately, he didnít appear anywhere, and without this information I couldnít go back further down the VAUGHAN line, which is very disappointing and frustrating.  However, these things happen (especially in Welsh Genealogy) and Iíve had to admit defeat and accept the inevitable on this particular occasion.

The two main reasons for this are, 1) Williamsís mother (Jane VAUGHAN) was single when she had him around 1859 in Hope, and 2), also, she was illegitimate when she was baptized on 22 July 1838 in Hope. Then to add to the confusion, after she married John HUGHES in 1863, William variously appears as HUGHES & JONES in various Census Returns, Ďmuddying the watersí even more.  He even gave his  Fatherís name as John VAUGHAN on his Marriage Certificate, when in fact, his step-father John HUGHES was actually a Witness.. So you can see what a minefield itís been trying to get a handle on the correct information.

The JONES name came about because he spent most of his life with his Grandmother, Sarah JONES (neeí VAUGHAN) who  married Griffith JONES in 1844 in Great Boughton, and Jane VAUGHAN was her illegitimate daughter born in 1838 in Hope. Consequently, it wasnít possible to find Sarah VAUGHANís father either because she was born around 1814, and official records didnít begin until 1837.

Thanks again everyone.
Anne

Thank you everyone for your sterling work on my behalf - it's much appreciated !  I can now piece together some of the facts I already had, ie:  Henry WILLIAMSON (who came from a well-known Salford family) moved to Conington, married Rose SPARKES, and had a daughter, Rose WILLIAMSON, and she was the mother of the Rev Henry NEWCOME.  Because the WILLIAMSON family are my ancestors, I've been trying to trace Henry's birth in order to link him in, and I suspect it will continue to be difficult. :D :D :D :D

If it's any help, Rose WILLIAMSON married Stephen NEWCOME in ???, Rector of Caldicote, and their fourth Son was the REV. HENRY NEWCOMBE (b.1627), who was the famous Diarist. Both Rose & Stephen died in 1642.

I am trying to find the birth of one, Henry WILLIAMSON, B.D. (a Divine of the Church), who would have been born around 1580 in Salford. He went on to become the Rector of Conington in Cambridgeshire, and married there. He had a daughter called Rose WILLIAMSON but I don't know who he married.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  :) :) :) :)

Thanks everyone - my mistake - I've read and re-read the form yet again, and yes, you're correct KGarrard. Underneath the Mandatory Section of the Form it says *Service Number AND/OR Date of Birth must be included".   ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)  Thanks again...
