Hi Nigel and thankyou.
As it transpired Dame Agnes SAUNDERS was the daughter of John HUSSEY of Shapwick, Dorset.
Her sister was Margaret, the first wife of John MAYNARD (will 1557, buried Stepney)
John MAYNARD's daughter Fraunces first married Walter ROBERTS and second to William BIRDE. They appear in Dame Agnes SAUNDERS 1588 will as "my neece Ffraunces BIRDE . . . . and her husband Mr William BIRDE".
Dame Agnes SAUNDERS mentioned in her 1588 will that if she died in Stepney, then she wished to be buried by her late brother John MAYNARD. Wills of long ago rarely included the words "in-law", like we do today.
Dame Agnes SAUNDERS ended up being memoralised in St Etheldreda's Church, Hatfield, Hertfordshire with her daughter Elizabeth BROCKET. Her memorial confirms that she was the daughter of John HUSSEY.
This is my transcript of the memorial stone ;
