Nottinghamshire / Re: Do you recognize the FWKs in this 19th century photo?

Hi, I know there is a photo of Ruddington FWK with a possible ancestor of mine. The Pikes who lived on Distillery Street. I'll try and find it but think it's in a book about Ruddington.
JaneyCanuck, I have Calverton Coopers going back from GGrandad Samuel born 1863 and back to Robert in 1682.

Hi Silaswall, I can't answer that, but would like to hope so as they were also risking their lives as the explosion at chilwell proved.

Hi ansett, I've just entered  Hunts Green, Staffordshire       on Google Earth and it's all still there as a small village. A signpost I saw in streetview said, Tamworth 4 Miles & in the other direction Middleton 3/4 Mile. I'll look more later.

Hi ansett, you have nothing to worry about, as I live here but didn't know, or check the distance. Yes they are different counties but only 5 miles apart.
It could well be worth posting on the Staff's board though.

Nottinghamshire / Re: Samuel Chambers 1792 Mary Annable 1800 "Are they your Family"?

Hi ansett, just wondering while looking at a few Family Trees on Ancestry, all quote death registration as Jan. Quarter 1872, Tamworth 6b 277, but post it as Middleton, Warwickshire.

Not sure which is correct.

Hi, I've no real idea, but considering the road or canal transport and the building of lots of mills with windows, did they not bring in raw materials and make the glass on site? The raw materials would not break in transit as would glass panes. Therefore maybe not an established glass maker, but a transient one.
