Northumberland / Newspaper report of inquest 20/04/1929 WARREN death
« on: Monday 24 July 23 04:05 BST (UK)  »
I have a death certificate for John Warren who died in hospital in North Shields and it states that the coroner for South Northumberland, Philip M. Dodds, held an inquest on 20th April. I was just wondering please if there was any newspaper coverage of this in the North Shields newspaper?
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread and not sure if you're still looking but I too am interested in Sidwell Suxspeach.

I haven't been able to discover anything about her after her arrival in Australia after being transported in 1834 on board the 'Edward' after pleading guilty to stealing from her master, but she was born 13 Dec 1817 the daughter of Frances and William Suxspeach, a carpenter, and baptised 15 Nov 1818, St Luke. She spent time in the workhouse as a child - it seems likely mother died and I think father remarried and had further children.

I’m trying to find the marriage record for Richard William Wright and Mary Ann Mash who married 9th March 1873, St Mary Stratford Bow. I’ve gleaned this info from the royal marine marriage registry on Ancestry but I’m particularly keen to find father’s names and occupations to check it’s the right family without having to order the actual certificate in case it’s the wrong family. Many thanks for your help. :)

John Woods is a widower on the 1861 so any re-marriage was between 1861-1871

Whoops yes sorry 1851 was a typo - they married between 1861 census and 1871 census.

The first marriage only has 4 people on Freebmd - where were you looking?

Marriages Sep 1864
GREEN    Frances
Hook    Alfred
WARNER    Elizabeth
WOODS    John

Norwich    4b   245

That would make more sense! On Ancestry there's also a Hannah Lynch as well as those 4!

The Common Room / Narrowing down marriage entry from 2 possibles

I'm trying to order the marriage cert for John Woods and Frances Green nee Warden who married in Norwich sometime between 1851 and 1871.

I've found 2 possibles - Sept 1864, Norwich, 4b 245 and Sept 1867, Norwich, 4b 181 - but they aren't the only people marrying each time and the first entry has 5 people on the page rather than 6 which is really confusing! I think in the 1867 entry the other couple Sarah Young Lakeman and George Fidler married judging by the 1871 census and probate record, but then there's no guarantee that that John Woods and Frances Green are my ancestors.

Is there any way to narrow it down or do I just have to buy both certificates?

London and Middlesex / Re: Sophia Suxspeach b Clerkenwell abt 1814

Thank you both for replying, that's a good idea Suxpeach might have been a married name as that hadn't occurred to me! I'll keep searching for a baptism or marriage to eliminate the other Sophia Suxpeach and try ordering the death cert in the hope it might have some info in it to rule her out. I never know how much evidence I need to be sure of an ancestor in my tree!

London and Middlesex / Sophia Suxspeach b Clerkenwell abt 1814
« on: Monday 01 January 18 22:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have my gggg grandmother Sophia Wright nee Suxspeach in my tree. According to various census entries she was born Clerkenwell and married to Richard Wright, a pavior/stonemason. I know her maiden name from the parish marriage record and my ggg grandmother's birth certificate.

I thought I had the right birth entry as the only Clerkenwell baptism record I can find is Sophia Suxspeach bap 27 June 1813, Clerkenwell St James, born 13 Nov 1812 to William (a carpenter) and Frances Suxspeach.
There are also siblings -
Frances bap 8 Jan 1809, St Andrews Holborn,
Amelia Margaret bap 20 Oct 1811 St Sepulchre,
Thomas William bap 14 May 1815 Clerkenwell,
Sidwell bap 15 Nov 1818.

I've found a marriage 9 June 1806 St Anne, Soho of William Suxspeach and Fanny Hawkins.

My Sophia and Richard Wright had a daughter, Frances Hawkins Wright, listed as Fanny on 1851 census, in 1849 and baptised at St John's Hoxton which made me think this was the right family and the girl was named for her grandmother.

All of the Suxspeach children - Frances, Amelia, Sophia, Thomas and Sidwell - were together admitted to the workhouse in 1823 in Camden St Giles in the Fields and then seem to be in and out over the next few years.

What's confused me is a death for Sophia Suxpeach age 27 in Mar Qtr 1838, Shoreditch 2 / 348 which seems to be Sophia Suxpeach who died in the same workhouse age 27 on 2nd June 1838 and was buried 6th June 1838. It's a slightly different spelling and I can't find any siblings in the workhouse at the same time so should I assume this is a different Sophia Suxpeach? I can't find a baptism to show there were 2 Sophia Suxspeach/Suxpeach of the same age from the same area. I want to believe I've found the right family but should I discount her and keep searching?

Thanks so much for any advice!
