Warwickshire Completed Lookup Requests / Re: COMPLETED: Thomas ALLEN
« on: Sunday 07 December 14 12:34 GMT (UK)  »
I have just found your query and my husband's line has an indirect connection many generations back to the ALLEN line.
Thomas ALLEN b. 1818 was the son of Thomas ALLEN and Anne LEATHERLAND (the daughter of Joseph and Mary my husband's 4X great grandparents). Thomas Sr. was born in 1783 in Balsall, Warwickshire and was a farmer.
Who did Thomas Jr. marry?

Argyllshire / SMITH ancestors from Kilmartin and Ardrishaig
« on: Saturday 05 January 08 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching the SMITH families from Kilmartin and Ardrishaig and wondered if anyone else has connections to my ancestors.
Peter SMITH, b.1773 Glassary parish, was a miller/ millwright at Carnasserie and was married to Catherine or Margaret CAMBELL about 1802. The children that I know of were Donald,Angus and William.

Donald SMITH married Christina MCCLELLAN in 1827 in Kilmartin

Angus SMITH married Margaret ORR in 1830 in Ardrishaig - my gg grandparents

William SMITH was born in Ford, Kilmarin in 1808 and possibly married Marion MCBRIDE.

I think that Peter SMITH's parents were William and SMITH and Rachel CURRY/CURRIE who married in 1764 in Kilmartin.

If anyone knows anything of these ancestors, I should love to hear from you with a view to exchanging information.

« on: Tuesday 11 April 06 10:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi Paul,
Thanks for pointing the messages out to me. I remembered receiving info. about the ELLIS family for 1851 onwards, but couldn't remember the 1841 and for some reason, I hadn't added it to my file and family tree programme.  :-[
Obviously, a very Senior Moment  ;)
Take care and thanks.

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Richard ELLIS family in 1841 Census
« on: Monday 10 April 06 09:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have Richard ELLIS born ca. 1795 in Hanmer who married Hannah BADCOCK abt.1824 (probably in Peckforton,Bunsby,Cheshire as that was where she was born in 1796). Could SKS with access to the 1841 Census for  Hanmer and Bronington have a look for them and their family, please? I have found them in all the other Censuses up until the 1880s when they died.
Many thanks.

Thanks for looking at the 1851 Index for the WESTS. I would love the details of any of them in Harewood as that is where my brother-in-law's family lived for generations.Lambert WEST is one of his ancestors.

Hi,
Thanks for publishing the info. below. as it has helped fill a gap in my knowledge of the Welford KNIGHTs. It would be great if I could get this line further back!
By the way, which church was this marriage in- the Parish church or Welford Independent?

Here is George snr marriage at Welford to Mary.

Hi Susan,
I am also having a problem with the 1871 Census for Welford at Ancestry.com as I need to find all my husband's KNIGHT and BILLING ancestors who lived there. For some reason, Welford doesn't seem to have been included.I have managed to find most of them in 1861,1881,1891 and 1901.
George KNIGHT b.1785 at Market Harborough and his wife Mary were my husband's great great great grandparents.Their son Thomas KNIGHT who married Louisa BILLING in Welford about 1835 is the line that he descends from albeit a female one as it was their daughter Emily who married into the BROWN family from Kenilworth and then lived in West Derby,Liverpool,Lancs. The KNIGHTS,BILLINGS AND BROWNS were all in the building trade which is probably how they all met.
I look forward to hearing from you and anyone else connected to any of these lines. :D

If anyone has access to the 1841 and 1851 census, could they please look for members of the WEST family in Harewood? There won't be that many of them- in particular, I am looking for a Robert WEST born about 1770 who was married to Ann LAMBERT in Harewood in 1795.Many thanks.
