Annwyl / Dear Vanessa,
It is a little while since I looked at my family tree but have it all stashed away in a file. I will look up all that I have in the way of 'Ashtons' at Merthyr and get back to you soon. Pob hwyl / best wishes - Hedydd

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: Sarah RICHARDS b c 1826 - Bedwellty(?)

Dear Brentor Boy, I thought that we might be able to swap some info as my g-g- grandmother was Jennette Ashton,  nee Smith(9-6-1851), daughter of Robert Smith (26-12-1827) & Sarah Smith nee Rosser.  I have a scanned photo of Jennette which I could email you if you were interested but I have found it difficult to access many photos in spite of the excellent 'Old Merthyr' website.  Would you be interested in swapping f. trees or sharing........... H.

Australia / Re: Immigration - Benjamin Thomas MILES
« on: Monday 05 October 09 22:27 BST (UK)  »
Dear sanmiles84 - I know of a George Henry Miles who lived in Lower Fishguard - no more than a couple of miles from Berracah Cottage. He had a son called Percy who is named on the war memorial at Fishguard as he was killed in WWII in 1941 aged 21 yrs.  There may be some connection ????  I can certainly find out more.  Berracah is a chapel which is still a going concern, though the membership is dwindling & I'm sure that I have a photo of the old cottage across the road as it was.  I could also take a digital snap of it as it stands today.  It has a lovely view across Fishguard Bay.  Are you interested ?? - hhughes

Hi! I'm a Lower Fishguard girl by birth & still live close by. It was great to see that you have 'George Manning Rees of Lower Fishguard Watchmaker' as your ancestor.  I'm doing a bit of research for data & old photos of the village & would love to swap any information that you may be interested in ??

Shwmae ? I live very close to Llanwnda  & was interested in the research that you are doing.  I envy your having a nice unusual name like Fox to research.  Were you, by any chance related to Hilda Fox of Lower Fishguard? I'm a Lower Town girl by birth and have old photos of the older characters to share & swap, - if you have the Fishguard connection.

Hello, shwmae - I'm a Lower Fishguard girl & am interested in doing more research on the village. I have a lot of scanned photos which might be of interest to you.  I know that mariners commonly moved up & down the coast.  There is a Captain Parry from N Wales who moved down to Cwm (L Fishguard) & raised a large family.  I'll keep my eyes peeled for Owen - Hwyl - Hedydd
