Travelling People / Re: Looking for SMITH family - Gypsy's ??

hello again. thanks for the reply and info, however, i don't think we have the same families here. my lot were centred around melton mowbray and areas in leicestershire.
the unusual names include: napthali, amadine, boyrementa (aka wyrementa, byrementa, ryadunty etc etc). so if you come across anything like that i'd be interested to know. i've traced this side of the family back to circa 1770 but can't get back any further through parish registers.
happy hunting. best wishes, lynne french

Hi just read your message about  the Smiths from Harby. I am William Smith from Harby. The eldest son of Eric Smith who was born in 1905. They were Tailors in Nottingham & London. I also have two sisters and one brother. I am also related to the Booth family.

hello. i think i may be related to you if your eric smith was the son of rose & enoch smith of melton mowbray leics. please get back to me if this is the case. thanks. lynne.

hi cheryl, thanks for your reply. vira cannot be my gggrandma then because i have several pieces of evidence to show that she was born 1825 in waltham on the wolds and birth cerificates of several of her children. never mind though; it was just a thought especially when you are clutching at straws. i can only conclude that amos/hannah smith's daughter, abicavena, died before the 1841 census. ( she was born13/5/1833). i would be interested in hearing from you if ever you should come across her name in your research.
best wishes, lino

probably completely wrong but could vira be abicavena d/o amos & hannah smith? i cannot find abicavena anywhere other than her baptism. her brother, napthali, was my gggrandfather; his son, napthali had a daughter, laura, with amadine booth (my ggrandparents). if you think this is possible, please contact me to swap info.  best wishes, lino.

ps. napthali senior married boyrementa holland. aka wymenty, ryerdunty et al

amidine bland (nee smith) was my grandma's elder sister. they were gipsies living in melton mowbray leics . amidine died in 1949 and i was hoping that her descendants may have family photos of her , her parents and siblings. i would appreciate it very much if they could get back to me about this. i have lots of info i can share too.
