I am trying to find out what the initials A.S.R.E AND B.L.A stand for. I am trying to find this out for a relative, her father had made a pipe holder out of brass and had engraved 82. A.S.R.E AND B.L.A 1945 France, Holland, Belgium, Germany. All she knows is that he served in the trenches and did not talk about his time with the armed forces.

Many Thanks

Hi

Thanks for those 2 links, will have a look. I am also going to try and find Margaret Loftus on the 1901 cencus and see if she had any children. That might point me in the right direction.

The Mckenzie-Baldwin marriage was in December 1901 - Liverpool. Margaret was previously married to Francis Raife Loftus in September 1892 - West Derby. So could they have been Margarets daughters and adopted my William or would they have been Williams daughters from his first marriage.  All very confusing as they have been referred to as Step Sisters.

Hello

I am trying to find more information about my Great Grandfather William Mckenzie born 6th May 1865 - Greenwich - Woolwich Dockyard. Who on the 1911 was born in Portsmouth 1868 and was an A B Sailor Mercantile on the SS Harrison.

According to my mother he did the trade routes between Liverpool and Malta and was a Pilot.

Hi

Was wondering if someone could help find the baptism of my Grandmothers 2 step sisters as I cannot find any records doing internet search.

On the 1911 cencus

Moude Mckenzie Year of Birth 1893 Liverpool
Sarah Mckenzie Year of Birth 1899 Liverpool

Father William McKenzie Year of Birth 1868 Portsmouth, but his birth certificate is Greenwich - Woolwich Dockyard born 6th May 1865. Profession Able Seaman (Merchant Navy). He did the Liverpool-Malta routes.

I am trying to find out who their mother was before William married Margaret Ann Baldwin who was my grandmothers mother.

Many Thanks

I think mine and yours are possibly from the same roots, mine that I have traced hale back to

William Eglen 1765 born in Gressenhall and Elizabeth (Vincent)1768 Born in Houghton,

Then on to William 13 July 1794 Gressenhall (one of 8 Children) and Sarah Cobb 24 Dec 1801 East Dereham?

Then William 30 Oct 1825 Dillington ( one of 10 children) and Catherine Maria Cook 1836,

James William 1 Aug 1858 Castle Acre ( one of 6 Children) and Maude Mary Tebbutt 15 Dec 1872

Francis Rodney 23 Apr 1904 Hull and Caroline Annie Brown 28 Mar 1903

Gordon Arthur 1929 Hull and Betty Robinson 1927

Do any of the first one fall in with yours, I do have more detail if you need more proof. I do know that some of the aboves children live in Beetley. I.e

John 1813 and Sarah Catchpole 1819 Beetley
Children
Anne 1838
Lydia 1839
Mary 1842
John 1845
James 1847
William 1852

I hope that makes sence
thanks for replying
