Thanks for this information - I can only think that the piece of jewellery held in a private collection is the piece of jewellery that I have - Hardly in a private collection - but sounds good.

Hi, Wow! What a surprise to get a reply after all these years. I am presuming you are related to Helen McCurdy. I don't know how my mother got this brooch.I do think it might have been passed down through my dad's family.  I wonder if Helen was related to my GG  Grandmother, Mary Weymss born 1831 in Ireland. She came over to England and married my GG Grandfather, Samuel Major in 1849 in Astbury, Cheshire. Do you have any Weymss in your tree?.
Ofcourse my mum may have just bought the piece of jewellery somewhere because she liked it.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Hi,

Lovely to hear from you - I had to stop and try and remember who this Lilian was? It was such a long time ago that Peggy asked me to look into her family tree.

Not sure if you know, but Peggy is still alive and reasonably well - 93 this year I think. My sister-in-law sees her often but she is on holiday at the moment. When she returns I will ask her to get in touch with you.

Regards

Hi, Thanks Heather. I have just checked my family tree and where as I did have most of the info, I didn't have John Walter Rawlinson's birth, so thanks for that - I only get time to do research in the winter months so hopefully will get all caught up again soon.

Hi, Thanks for your reply to my rootschat query. Yes this was a long time ago. So long ago, in fact, that I don't know why I was asking about Mary Ellen  Leah & Henry Swinden! I don't seem to have Mary Ellen Leah in my tree? My direct ancestors are  Leah's and do come from Stockport but I can't find Mary Ellen. I'll have to get back to researching again soon ( winter months!), so if I come up with any clues, I'll get back to you.
Thanks for your interest.

Hi Rosie,
No I hadn't thought of doing that - but it's a very good Idea. I will do it shortly. Thanks for the idea.

Hi,
Thanks for the 1901 census - I should have mentioned that I have already looked on the 1901 census
I have discounted the Lilian M shown as dau of Edward Roberts & Catherine - Someone found them for me on the 1911 census and it shows her as Lilian Maud nor Lilian May.
I suppose what would help is to find the Lilian daughter of Jane on the 1911 census.
Lilian is supposed to have a brother named Leonard and a sister named Winifred - maybe these would be on the 1911.
Anyway, thanks very much for trying to help.
