Hello, can anyone decipher the following please - I'm not sure why the dates have 16/1 and 19/3 - nor do I understand the army shorthand!  Many thanks, Selby

Sandra!!! Thank you so much  :D….

Looks like Joseph died quite early on!

How brave were these people to take four young children from the UK to Detroit in 1859…??

I appreciate the time you spent.

Selby  :)

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me… I have a family member called Joseph Bond Cave (born 1817 in Bethnal Green) who emigrated to Detroit around 1861 with his wife Charlotte and children William, Mary Ann, Charlotte and Joseph Cave.

Would love any information about him, specifically what job he did, where he lived and when he died.

Many thanks, Selby

Sorry, been away!

Thank you for this…. I used to be on Ancestry and could look at other pages on the census sheets but now I’ve changed to MyHeritage and it doesn’t have that facility!!

Thank you for finding it! Now you’ve told me where to look I’ve located it (on a much older map  :) ).

Thank you all again, I'd been looking for it for days! Selby

London and Middlesex / East London Hostel and Eventide Home - Greig House - Poplar

Hello  :)

I've recently acquired a photograph taken at the Salvation Army Home for the Elderly (Greig House, 20 Garford Street, Poplar) sometime between 1947 and 1951.  I've written to the Salvation Army Archivist and they have a copy of the photograph on file but don't know who it is... Shot in the dark here - but does anyone recognise these people??

Many thanks, Selby

London and Middlesex / GRAY STREET, STEPNEY
« on: Sunday 07 November 21 13:42 GMT (UK)  »

Hello,

I have a family, in 1911, living at number one, Gray Street, Stepney - it was somewhere in the region of Commercial Road and Mile End.  I've searched and searched for any sign of it - nothing.

Does anyone know where it was please??

Many thanks, Selby  :)
