Cork / Kenney family in Youghal pre 1840
« on: Friday 05 March 10 21:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi folks I am hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction for finding more information on William Kenney's family [he was born c1832 and settled in Leicester England in the 1850's]. My auntie told me this is the area to begin the search. Any advice would be great. Sorry don't know which church the family belonged to.  TL.

Hi, for all those who have an interest in this topic. I was browsing in the local bookstore when I came across a small book with photos of Enderby, Narborough and Littlethorpe. One photo was named Auburn Road, Fosse, Narborough dated 1907,and showed a large Victorian building with several tall arched windows. It stated that it was being used as a convent at that time, but I wondered if perhaps this might have been the building that was previously the school?    TL

Hi aj,

My partner hasn't really got much further in her search at present, but believes that Sidney is her Mum's {Betty } brother. She'd be interested to know if your search has progressed any further. :)   TL

Scotland / Donbar/Dunbar

Hi,

I think I need to prefix this message by admitting its a longshot and any info would probably be useful. Anyway basically I have ancestors in Madeley, Shrops who carry the name Donbar/Dunbar. The earliest date I have is Andrew Donbar 4/1/1764 who may have had a father named Welldone [sic]. Since it is a Scottish surname and I can find no other family lines in England I wondered if anyone knows of Dunbars who moved to England in the 18th c or could advise which Scottish counties might be worth investigating further.   Many Thanks.  TL

Hi KittyWillow,

Thanks very much for that unexpected, but very welcome wealth of information. Seems that Josiah Redshaw in Falstone might not be the one then judging by the different date of birth. Now we have other family surnames to chase I can see my partner is going to be keen to discover even more of her family's past!   :) :)

Shropshire / The Dunbars of Madeley
« on: Wednesday 08 July 09 21:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have records of two marriages; Andrew Donbar  (born Madeley 4/1/1764) to Ann Shepherd on Aug/29/1798 at Little Wenlock and his son Isaac Dunbar (born Madeley 25/5/1804) to Mary Page on Jan/30/1832 at Madeley.

Where I need a bit of help is finding the birth records of both Ann Shepherd and Mary Page. Can anyone help please?

                                                          Thanks.
